Be interesting to see just what 'evidence' they actually have on Jay Rodriguez. His goose is already cooked, imo, if the only way to be cleared of a charge is to wait seven weeks for the FA to conclude that not one shred of evidence apart from the accuser's complaint grudgingly equals no case to answer.

 

Yeah he seems to be one that is right up **** creek. He threatened to sue basically and hasn't kept quiet (and the fa have patted firmino on the head for doing so)

It seems to me the FA have charged so have some evidence. If saying someone smells racist? well we will find out shortly.

I honestly don't think that the wording is even-handed at all. I think it is quite emphatic about Holgate's innocence but leaves Firmino's open-ended and open to interpretation.
I suppose "insufficient evidence to bring a charge" might be seen as different to "insufficient evidence to establish guilt", but it isn't clear enough, imo. It hints at a suspicion of guilt but an inability to prove it, rather than a declaration of innocence.
Perhaps it would be interesting to hear the opinions of non-partisan people as to how it sounds to them? If there are any.

 

Interesting. Telegraph notes the investigation into Holgates homophobic tweets is still ongoing.

While I think it was just banter of a teenage boy it will still be interesting to see how the FA word that statement lol

 

Can't say I go along with the conspiracy theory, tbh. I'd need incontrovertible evidence before I'd claim that.
What I do think is that the FA are totally inept when it comes to this type of judgement and are so obsessed with being seen as anti-racist that they are happy to let an innocent party be stigmatised in an effort to be seen as taking the accusation seriously.
It's pathetic really - it would be quite easy to turn this around and accuse them of backing the Englishman against the dirty foreigner.
They need to improve the way they handle these things, and could start by explaining why on Earth it took them so long to come to a conclusion.

 

I hate to think of the reaction the verdict will get.

 

The FA boys must be wetting their pants though... "if we punish Holgate it'll look like it's because he made accusations of racism......but but if we don't the rainbow brigade will scream loudly at us. ..pass another bottle of macallan geoffrey we have to word this carefully....."

Well Patrice Evra is back in the country. I'm surprised the FA didn't deem him sufficiently un-partisan to sit on the panel.

 

Maybe it will be similar to you saying Firmino was racist when there was no evidence to say he has been

PJ's just a bit pissed off that he can't use the "Firmino is a racist" thing anymore, he was it seems convinced Firmino would be found guilty.
