Sorry if this has been posted before. Pretty interesting from Barton. He does get criticism, but this is actually quite a good piece.
He’s an interesting character for sure. He speaks a lot of sense too. He also thinks and says that the FA are bellends. I like him.
He is a cock. But some of his interviews are quite open and honest. I quite like this interview with him. I think some young footballers probably need this kind of reality painting.
But if he had anything like a decent grasp on reality he would have gone a lot further in the game. He really isn't one to be lecturing anyone else.
He's not lecturing anyone. He's addressing issues young players coming into the game face if they want to play first team football. Particularly with the PL now pulling players from all over the world.
I always thought Barton was a decent player and would've always had him at City, but he's just an absolute cockwomble.
Interesting his comments on gambling yesterday on TS. Kieron Dyer's written a b book about some England player losing 100k pre tournament.
Barton is a maverick (call him a ****er/bell end or whatever insult you want to throw at him...) swimming in a sea of (not all but many) of semi-literate, boring, insincere and detached 'professionals'. He's made some stupid mistakes, cigar in the eye etc, but I would still have had him at City in a heartbeat.
Remember that this is just joey Barton telling us that he is more committed than young players. No evidence, just his own word. If you asked the juniors he was talking to, I imagine they may hold another view point.
To be fair - he's probably been one of the first names on the team sheet at most of the clubs he's played at. He has been incredibly stupid at times in his career, but on the pitch ignoring all the other stuff - he has been a pretty dogged and consistent performer. The Joey Barton at Burnley - I'd have had at City. His style of play on the pitch was exactly what we missed almost every time we got promoted to the PL.
What people forget about Joey Barton is he was the single most influential person in Man City winning their first title of the PL era. He spent 3 minutes being sent off in the last game of the season, which meant that Bolton were already relegated and QPR safe going into the last few minutes. So QPR stop playing and Man City score 2 goals to win the title. He should go down in their history. And I like ‘im, think he talks a lot of sense on most occasions I hear him.
I think he tries desperately hard to sound like he's making sense. He seems obsessed with being 'the one intelligent footballer'. Firstly I don't believe he's as intelligent as he thinks, and secondly it's a stupid, lazy stereotype that the rest of them are thick.
Did anyone say the rest of them are thick? I just like him cos he likes The Smiths and he doesn’t partake in the Pep ****fest.
