I ****ing hope not. I was just saying it's no coincidence that Nolan, Barton, and maybe Enrique were all earning more than the wage cap allows. We know Smith is gone, even if we have to keep him for a year. Colo's got 2 more years on his deal then will have to take quite a significant wage cut to extend his stay after that.

Aye Smith would be gone now if they could prise him away from his wages! I don't think they would this window with Colo but I've stopped saying things won't happen! As you say he'll have to agree to wage cut to stay beyond that. That is not likely so we know he'll go in time, probably next summer.

Cabaye will have alot more freedom to play have more touches and dictate/control the game now that Joey Barton is leaving.

losing barton and nolan will completely change the way we play. last year we were a side who could pass the ball around really well and keep posesion and control the game from midfield, as much as i dont like to say it joey pulled the strings in midfield and tiote broke up play and played the holding midfield role excelently. we now have cabay who is yet to settle but is probably more creative than barton, hes quicker and short passes barton does not. cabaye's weakness is his strength though he needs to work on that. we will now have pace wingers in marveaux, obertan, ben arfa and jonas, which means we wil now probably play more counter attacking football and attack with pace from the wings, i reckon we will be similar to how aston villa were last year with downing and young playing as wing forwards and having a target man like shola or ba in the box.

the loss of barton increases the pace in our starting line up and makes our midfield a much more offensive unit, i see this being an exciting year ahead to be honest

You can talk about formations all you like. Players are human beings who are in the squad, the training ground, the dressing room 7 days a week. On the pitch he was our second most important player behind Tiote. His qualities on the pitch made us a better team. His qualities off the pitch made us a better team.

He will be missed. No question.

Only positive; The media will have to think of something else to put NUFC's name in the toilet....we might get a couple of week's off.

Jonas is versatile, he can play on the left or the right <ok> His natural position is actually on the right! Have a read of our official website http://www.nufc.co.uk/page/Teams/PlayerProfile/0,,10278~38404,00.html

When he moved here he played on the right for us at first and then him and Duff kept alternating throughout the season between right and left after N'zogbia left in January. Duff left in the summer and Jonas formed a strong partnership with Enrique so he stayed on the left and has played there since. And to whoever said he has always played on the left, no he hasn't! He played on the right most the time for Mallorca and he played RB for Argentina at the world cup. If you did a quick google or had a basic knowledge of our players you would have known all this anyway! All I wanted to do was highlight some of the positives and show how our line up can be better without Joey, just to lighten the mood a bit. So I apologise to those 'fans' that got upset when I suggested playing someone in there natural position. Also sorry for spelling losing wrong.

Sorry his natural position is the left mate regardless what our site says. I watch a fair bit of the Primera and I can't ever remember seeing him on the right for Mallorca. He played left every week. Like I say just look at his highlights on youtube from his Majorca days, virtually everyone is left side. (I'm sure I had a look not too long ago, there is one of him cutting from the left against someone like Osasuna or Zaragoza to score)

Can't comment on his Velez days but since moving to Europe he has played mainly on the left. Also I remember the comments when he first signed. "why the **** are we playing duff on the right!!)

He had played on both wings for Mallorca and he actually played just behind the striker for them aswell. When he first joined us he started off on the right as well! As well as playing RB and RW for Argentina. He is a versatile player he can play well on the right or the left but he is a natural right sided player!

Also loads of you moan that his crossing is ****e so if we put him on the right it will be better because he will be using his right foot which is his stronger foot! Why are half of you's against playing him on the right anyway's like?

We'll agree to disagree, as I say I watch a lot of spanish football and I never saw him play on the right. I don't have a problem with him being used on the right. He might have to be if Barton goes. I'm just saying his natural position is left and this is where I think he's most effective. In an ideal world we'd have a natural right sider but you could argue we do in Obertan.

I believe Jonas's ball carrying skills are his main attribute. He can relieve pressure from a defence with lung busting runs, and help you to break quickly. One of his key skills is dropping his right shoulder to change direction. I just think this is more effective down the left side. His crossing wouldn't improve much being down the right I don't think. I actually think his crossing has improved massively now he's finally realised sometimes you just have to get it in the mix, and cutting back onto your right to curl the ball towards goal is also a diffcult ball to deal with

Jonas is a LEFT winger. Left. Left!

He started his debut on the right for us but was alternating with whoever was on the left that day. He has always played left wing. Like Robben plays right wing. Like Ben Arfa used to play right wing. Like Messi used to play right wing. Like Henry used to be a left winger. Like Villa plays left wing for Barca sometimes. All opposite side to their stronger foot. It's how a lot of skillful wingers play. You rarely get a skillful winger beat a man with trickery and dribbling ability then hit the line to cross for the big man. They cut inside or pass. Jonas crosses better with his right... but he isn't a crosser! He's a left winger not a right midfielder.

Fair enough we''ll agree to disagree on his natural position <ok>, I don't dispute anything else you have said and I agree that he is probably more effective at doing what you have stated on the left. However I believe Jonas and Marveaux are our 2 strongest wingers and out of the 2, Jonas would be the better option to play on the right and thats why I suggested playing him there in my formation.

    Contradiction there?

I'm not going to repeat what I have said so see post's 46 & 48 <ok> We'll just have to agree to disagree on this.
