So what might we pick up from the remainder:

    Sun Feb 18 Ipswich Town (12pm) H
please log in to view this image

Not just winnable, surely nailed on, we're on better form, we are a better side at home, what could possibly go wrong? 2-0 3pts
    Wed Feb 21 Wolverhampton Wanderers (7.45pm) A
They are beatable and with us so well suited to away fixtures hope springs, but they have an extra days rest and we will have just played the binners, head over heart 2-0 0pts
Sat Feb 24 Bolton Wanderers H
Winnable, they wouldn't be relegation threatened if they were particularly good, unfortunately one of those that has "they wanted it more" written large on it and we still don't convince me at home 1-1 1pt
    Sat Mar 3 Barnsley A
We're good on the road, they have lost their gaffer and are down there for a reason, City win 0-1 3pts
    Tue Mar 6 Nottingham Forest (7.45pm) H
Another tough call, Forest by then could have little to play for, now I think another home struggle, but if we have started to do better at home in the last few fixtures and Leitner/Maddison are continuing to gel, a win probable. 2-1 3pts
Sat Mar 10 Hull City A
Another tough relegation scrapper, a theme building here, I'll go for another 0-1 win on the road 3pts
    Sat Mar 17 Reading H
Another tough relegation scrapper, are we better at home by then? I want to think/hope yes 2-1 3pts
    Fri Mar 30 Fulham H
    Its Fulham! 0-2 0pts
Mon Apr 2 Queens Park Rangers A
On the road again QPR relatively safe we are bang in the hunt after average 2pts per game over the preceding 8 games and hammer them 0-1 3pts
Sat Apr 7 Aston Villa H
Can we beat the better sides at home? Not convinced, Villa by now trying to firm up 2nd place and take the spoils 1-0 0pts
    Tue Apr 10 Sunderland (7.45pm) A
Oh god I'd love us to put one of the final nails in to help relegate them, they have been gash all season so why stop by April? Coleman turned them around yet? 0-1 City 3pts
Sat Apr 14 Cardiff City H
Can we beat the better sides at home? Not convinced, but we do stand up to physical sides well. 1-1 1pt
Sat Apr 21 Preston North End A
Preston have dropped out of the play off picture by now, with Neils one dimensional tactics found out again, we have more to play for and well its away so 0-1 3pts
Sat Apr 28 Leeds United H
Dead rubber for the dirty ones, home win a rare second goal for a thrilling 2-0 3pts
    Sun May 6 Sheffield Wednesday (12.30pm) A
Daed rubber for the Owls but want to put on a show for the fans and end positively, a tough 1-1 1pt

So where does that leave us? 30 pts to take us to 74pts, will we get them? will it be enough if we do? Bristol and Fulham in 5th and 6th need only get 22 pts from their final 15 games to mean that it would not be good enough. So whilst I can see us getting those points (Maybe more or in a different way) I just don't see us catching two good sides like Bristol and Fulham who could both match our points scoring and more. The top 4 of course with 14pts+ advantage already are out of reach.
I feel poitive we will finish the season well, but I just can't see us bridging the 8 pts gap.

    Bah!

Excellent summary General and I'll be surprised if your total points prediction is not pretty close to our actual total and so leave us in about 8th position and a handful of points short of the playoffs.
Let's hope we can mount a more serious and sustainable challenge next season, but do much of that will be governed by the players we can retain and those we csc sign.

    15 games left
    Ipswich 1-0 win
    Wolves 1-0 win
    Bolton 1-0 win

You get the gist 45 points 15 goals 15 clean sheets .

I also ran through the possible scores and came up with 29 points from the last 15 games which technically might be enough, but it would depend on the teams we're chasing falling off in form and us winning all of the six-pointers against the likes of Fulham and Preston. More likely, we'll finish about 8th at best.

If Oliveira can get back to scoring and the new players excell, we could have a better run in and just make it. Reasons for hope while keeping expectations realistic.

Edit: Hadn't seen your prediction of 8th JMF. Like minds and all that! <cheers>

What's going on with this site? I tried to give surgeryman a "like" but I get a long, complicated error message about "xenforo."

And my non-avatar is now green! Is this something to do with the new advertisor?

I got the same weird message, but at least my avatar survived. It could be worse, CS - your avatar could have turned blue and white! As for Surgeryman's 6th place finish, I'll stick to my position that it's highly unlikely, but still possible. :emoticon-0105-wink:

At this point, a possibility is all we can ask for.

I checked our scoring record since the fiasco at Millwall after which DF changed tactics. Since then we have scored 2 goals three times and 3 goals only once. It doesn't bode well, but as you said earlier, I'll keep hoping until we are mathematically eliminated.

The transfer window slammed shut a fortnight ago but Norwich just landed a new player. Looking forward to seeing what this guy can do...

Give him 2 games and he'll pit in a transfer request like Pritchard. <laugh>
I like him and let's hope we can get a few good games out of him.

I think both Duncan's posts have their merits. <whistle>

I feel a little sorry for Jarvis. Saw him in a rare outing when he played for the U23s. Looked then like what he is, an experienced player amongst a group of lads. I was quite impressed with him.

Not really going to happen for him now I fear.

    I was on the A14 .
Saw him play against Baggies in a cup win both he and Lafferty scored and Jarvis was the best player on the pitch.

I suspect he'll be U23s fodder for a while yet. Can't be easy getting back to match fitness after that sort of layoff. Surprised he can remember how to play football.

Quite so. Tough on a clearly talented player, hoped we'd see more of him.

I remember when Jarvis was playing he put some beautiful crosses into the box. Too bad there were no yellow jerseys in sight. Not his fault, somebody should have been there.
