Only true if teams are chasing them, if nobody want's a player (not literally but not chasing) then upping their transfer fee and wage is not the best way to get rid.

Someone will want him - he's not that bad and I don't think his wages are astronomical, relatively speaking.

I am pretty sure someone will want him, he is far from the worst keeper in the PL, all I am saying is, if you want to get rid do it in the last 2 years of contract while his wage is set.
To up the wage and possible transfer fee just makes it harder, you only do that to screw teams like we did with Ronaldo and you did with Suarez (I think?) because we knew teams were chasing them.

It depends really. It can protect their value to stay the same rather than if only 2 years left then value drops etc.

If Mig was to go, he'd pretty much be first choice at most teams in the Prem from midtable downwards and he'd prob have a few options abroad as well.

Liverpool have not lost to Porto in four previous meetings, winning two games at home and drawing twice away while scoring seven goals but Klopp said his team’s quest to take something back for next month’s return leg will not be easy.

    Those games were:

2001 uefa cup run (QF stage) 0-0 and 2-0 at anfield

2007 Champtions league group stage 1-1 and 4-1 at anfield Porto actually won the group and we got to CL semi finals, losing the chelsea AET.

In other words if anyone wants a pattern out of these its we draw away and win easy at home.

OR if someone wants these games are so long ago they have zero relevance today.

To be honest though traditionally our European games do follow this pattern.

The Anfield factor tends to overwhelm teams but the away leg is always tough.

It would make sense to start at our usual high tempo and see if we can get an early away goal.

As a general pattern I agree. But what happened between specific clubs in the past with entirely different personnel has no relevance.
It reminds me of when commentators say something like "Team A hasn't beaten Team B since 1985" and it turns out they've only played each other twice during that period. :)

I always hear warning bells ringing when we don't start that way. The problem with the early lead though is that we can get complacent later on in the game.

Could have been yesterday, they'd still have zero relevance

Tottenham did well yesterday, coming back from 2 goals down to get 2:2 draw. We need a result.
