I don't think Beef is 'sack happy', its just the writing has been on the wall for a long time. But add to that others not doing their jobs, and the situation is at breaking point.
Carrillo is the replacement for Pelle who it took 18 months to find. The fact that Sadio Mane still hasn’t been replaced 18 months after selling him. Yes, they tried but failed to sign Walcott and then Promes, but clearly had no backup plan. Add to that, selling Virgil before the January window opened without the slightest intention of replacing him, despite the evidence that any combination of Stephens, Yoshida, and Hoedt cannot reliably defend airborne crosses into the box. If that isn’t enough evidence, I can probably think of some more, but I honestly can’t be bothered. Mmm yourself.
We will get no where near 40 points! If I were a bookie id say <35 is more likely than >40. Our run in is dreadful and I stick with my January prediction of 34-36 points and relegated.
Indeed. This isn't one bad window; it's about four in a row where we have failed to address known problems with the squad, not to mention that the current leadership were the ones responsible for sacking the manager after "8th and Wembley" (no, the fans didn't sack Puel). This would be a perfectly logical time to clean house, unless those failures in the market weren't really failures, but rather PR blitzes to show our "intent" to spend without ever really spending much.
No point sacking anyone now it's too late . We just have to grin and bare it and hope for the best . I think you have a valid and worrying point ref the PR Blitz , Schad .
Did I say do it now? They need sacking end of the season. They have ****ed up too much and when a company ****s up and under performs they sack the people that **** up. Also I am self employed so I am my own boss.
Mmm, even so, it' a bit of a 'dodgy premise' to use the 'sack option' so readily. Ive been following this club/team for a very long time and experience tells me we have been in more than a few similar scrapes in seasons gone by. What really pulls the team thru, is 100% complete backing (from the fans) for EVERY game. Regrettably, the advent of 'social media' has increased 'negativity & bad mouthing' of the club, the board, the magement, the team, the player exponentially! Not a good vibe (at all) for the fight that the club now find themselves in over the next few months.
Hey, I wouldn't have sacked Sturrock when we did. But MP is a new level of crap. I've thought that since Nov, so I gave him games to judge. I've seen nothing to suggest he is even a average manager. But, alas, we are stuck with him now.....
I still think there's time. Not much of it, granted - but some. If we acted today, I would still be confident of turning it around. I agree with the earlier points made about sacking Les or Ralph now would achieve very little (although it would speed up what should happen in the happen). But with every day that passes, without them acting, they just continue to shoot their own feet in my book. They can't make amends for the last 18 months, but they can at least make an attempt at it not getting any worse.
I can see Ralph going....not strictly a sacking, but a new way forward (I like to think he would appreciate that sentence ). He has other interests so he would hardly leave under a cloud....just a case of moving on. However, I can see Les staying on for the simple reason that Gao isn't a football man.....new managers come and go, but Director's of Football are a new breed. I don't even think we fully get where their power starts and finishes. The manager usually takes the blame....get in a new manager, do well and all will be well in Les land.
I agree about the need for the fans’ total support, but shouldn’t the board be visibly doing their best to ensure the club’s survival in the PL too? Apart from the triumphant notice about the Virgil fee they appear to have done very little. And there are plenty of us on this board who have lived through the same traumas as yourself, assuming your name is a reflection of when you began watching Saints. The fans’ support didn’t help us in 1974, or 2005, or 2009, because the team weren’t strong enough in those seasons. Neither did we help the team to the double in 1984, because the board didn’t back Lawrie Mac when he wanted to strengthen the squad. This season, the policy of selling our best players which has been going on since Krueger and Reed took over, seems to be catching up with us, and appointing a manager who might be good in time, but hasn’t yet grasped the way to manage a PL team, isn’t helping. Meanwhile the board have photo shoots in China...
Reed has been doing dodgy **** behind the scenes so 100% deserves to be sacked and Krueger does **** all. It's weird that when we are doing well Reed and Krueger are popping up all the time, but time we are in the **** we have like 2 interviews. This club hasn't been run well for a while sadly
Where are we in the league? Who handles the transfers? Who handles the manager sackings and appointments? Who handles **** when young players complain of bullying? Should I go on?
This thread is getting spicy. So SFC are in You might be right but the teams involved in this season's dogfight are averaging a point a game which is 38 points. In years past, the survival figure has been lower but with the teams from Bournemouth down being much of a muchness I think most will pick up 3 wins en route to the season's end, thus putting them above the 37 point marker. But we shall have to wait and see how the next 11 matches unravel.
Here's a thought! When SFC were making their summer transfers, why the hell didn't they go for John Terry? It is no coincidnece that Villa are having a much better season with him around. This is the kind of player that Lawrie Mac would have signed in days of yore.
