Somebody told me that get real Madrid were unbeaten in 5 consecutive seasons of the CL group stages. I assume that is now 6 seasons ...
I’m happy with any of the line ups mentioned above. Trippier has been excellent in the last couple of games, so it’d be a shame to see him dropped just as he hits form. But I suppose we need to rotate the full backs and keep everyone fresh. As long as Sissoko is no where near the team, thats all that matters for me. He’s not featured against man united, Liverpool or arsenal, and we’ve been outstanding. Keep him away!
Something like: 'you mo fo's, Juve haven't lost at home in the CL since Queen Victoria was a little girl! We got no chance. We played on Saturday, we're all be knackered after 10 minutes. They'll score shed loads. No one, not even Kane beats Buffon. Bet Sissoko starts
Group of death, Dortmund with their star striker Allbang-man will destroy us. How many times has he lost to us this season now?
Perhaps I should call him All-boomerang, he keeps returning to the same place and gets the same result.
It's hard to judge Juventus. All the domestic stats suggest they are world beaters. But they don't play teams who are CL knockout stages standard too often. They have done well in the CL without ever looking like a team who would be among the first half dozen favourites to win it. They have conceded one goal in their 16 last games, but don't regularly score too many, except the odd thrashing of an inferior opponent. Their strength is obviously defence, but in a league where they aren't tested too often. I can see them beating Spurs 1-0 tonight and then playing the most boring, negative football possible at Wembley. An early Spurs goal tonight might be needed to make the tie more open and interesting.
Absolutely. I'm going to be a nervous wreck come kick off but I love these games and the spirit we approach them with. COYS
They could play classically Italian if they can get away with it. As you said we will probably need to score first, and IMHO probably at least twice, in order to be able to blitzkrieg them at Wembley.
The one thing we have on our side is a bloody good team with stamina who are quite capable of getting a winner tonight in the 90th + minute. ..well 2 things actually harry kane as well .
I don't really get too nervous ahead of CL games. For the vast majority of our squad this is only their second ever CL campaign and the first where we've faced household name opposition. As long as they give 100%, play with maturity and determination and walk off the pitch with their heads held high at full time, I'm pretty happy.
I am excited for these games, but not fearful. I was very zen watching the 2nd half of the NLD, because full squad + previous two PL games told me the Goons were in trouble.
The nerves is because I genuinely think we can win it! Any one moment could make or break it for us across the 2 legs.
