What has been impressive in recent games is how effectively we've dominated games in a positive manner. The 3-4-1-2 formation has created a solid spine through the team while creating attacking options which the opposition finds difficult to deal with (as Curtis Davies tweeted about). Leitner moved this up a notch by adding more creativity in CM behind Maddison and the attacking players. Vrancic can also do that with long through balls but Leitner has a greater range of skills to offer. He also scored a good goal yesterday and could have been our MotM if the ref hadn't screwed up. I look forward to seeing just how much more he (and Hernandez and Srbeny) can provide in upcoming games. There really is a buzz going on now.
As luck would have it, the EDP made Leitner their player focus yesterday, detailing all his contributions during the game. http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/derby-1-norwich-1-player-watch-moritz-leitner-1-5390462 Considering that it was his first start, things could get even better.
Watched Oliveria take penalty on Sky Sports video clip. Carson stands in the left hand side final third of his goal. As Basil takes the penalty Carson moves very slightly to his right towards the centre of goal but by only by a few feet leaving a large space to his right. Oliveria places shot to the left of Carson where there is little space with most being to Carson’s right and it’s not surprising that the attempt is saved. The penalty attempt seems to suggest that Basil was in a great hurry to score and break his duck in 10 games. For me, he should be given a space on the bench and Srbeny given a start or he plays as a provider for Srbeny with Murphy (1 goal in 13) going to the bench.
A great read from Gary Gowers on today' MFW - Loved this excerpt re how Derby's manager and fans HATE JM - "The vitriol hurled in the direction of James Maddison on social media last night by Derby fans – stoked up it has to be said by Gary Rowett’s own skewed take on events – was arguably the pick of the bunch for its sheer level of venom and ugliness and one can only wonder what levels they are capable of reaching if they actually lose. Instead, they should have been thanking their lucky stars that they escaped a second-half pummeling with a point because that second 45 was right up there with anything as good as we have produced all season." Edit - I just CAN'T believe the change of comments by Archant reporters/MFW Contributors/not606 posters etc in that I haven't read even ONE instance of 'How Long Do We Give Him/Delia Out' (are you hibernating KIO??? since we beat Millwall.
Positivity is just as contagious as negativity. Just bloody marvellous to have a dollop of it to be going on with - not every day / season as an NCFC supporter
I have to say I have been quietly confident with our new set-up all season. I have been patiently waiting for the situation to start producing the goods
Oh dear here we go again, Farke is trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear and to be fair he’s doing a pretty good job atm. It’s not ‘How long do we give him’ in reality, it’s ‘How long do we give Her in the Boardroom ‘ and always has been
Agreed Cromer - let's just enjoy it whilst it lasts!! Edit - IMO, we MAY have turned the corner if we can keep most of the key players injury free. PS - WISE words -
I do think players differ in this regard. Some become attached to their team and club and others are merely moving through. CJ and BJ, like Holty and Wes, are examples of the former. Players like Pritchard, Brady, Redmond, Fer and others are merely moving through. Of the new players this year, most seem to me committed to the club, but time will tell. Zimmerman has gone out of his way to engage with the fans after matches and that makes a huge difference to both the fans and the club. Fortunately it all seems to be coming together now on the pitch as well and hopefully will carry on through the rest of the season.
