According to La Marca The Spanish sports paper the deal for Diarra is nearly done and the deal should be annouced very soon, here´s the link for the spanish speakers. http://www.marca.com/2011/08/24/futbol/equipos/real_madrid/1314182809.html
It basically says that agreement has been reached between Spurs & Diarra; and that the hold up has been Madrid's insistence on a share of any sell-on fee.
According to Sky Transfer watch Diarra is in London having a medical- I thought the medicals were at the training complex.
I thought the medicals were at the training complex. ------------------------------------------------------ Not sure, Beckham had a medical at the training complex, but that could be for security reasons away from public areas. Aguero had his for City at a hospital, he was filmed leaving it. It wouldn't surprise me if we used a London clinic.

O.k. found it. Yes, it's apparently a direct quote from the player Himself, given at the airport. He says "It's a lie. there is no agreement, nor do I expect there to be one. Remember, I have a contract with Real until 2013" So, that looks like the end of that one, then. Probably the wages, again. I can't imagine Diarra relishes sitting on the bench for another 2 years - but, who knows??
What a joke. We can't even sign a Madrid reserve. What is the point of trying to sign anyone of merit when we won't pay them the going rate. Sad to think the level of player we have a chance of getting is the like's of Cole and Barton. What a joke .
We don't know that it is wages, it might be other personal terms are the sticking point- there was talk of bonus incentives, a signing on fee etc. Until that is resolved then obviously no deal can be done.
We've had a couple of months to do this deal. Incentives , signing on fee etc are only another name for salary. The truth is they won't come if we do not give them the going rate , what ever way we dress it up. Look at our recent track record of trying to sign players, its embarrassing.
I doubt it schteffen, it's a direct quote from Darra himself. So, unless he's telling outright deliberate lies to one of Spain's biggest papers. It's the "nor do I expect there to be one" that sound kind of final! So, Joe ****ing Cole, it is then
