Boxing used to be terrestrial TV's big ratings draw. Now it is only "free" for the less important or less well known fighters with the big fights being PPV. You have to assume that enough revenue is gained from PPV to offset increased advertising rates for such a contest, but it is not doing the sport much good re the public's perception.

I'm more annoyed that streaming is becoming a more "normal" mode that free-to-air transmissions. No problem if you live somewhere with decent download speeds, but useless to those who happen to live rurally. With luck I'll be dead before streaming achieves total domination! <laugh>

Boxing is very accessible and easy to watch apart from the ****e they put on box office that doesn't deserve to be on box office. But even then it's pretty easy streaming it and normally on YouTube within a couple of hours too.

It is quite feasible that Nicky Henderson could have a six timer at Newbury today.

    Whatswrongwithyou 4/6
    lough derg Farmer 11/2
    Altior 1/2
Jenkins 10/1 Kayf Grace 11/1 Verdana Blue 14/1 lough derg spirit 28/1 Carlie Parks 40/1
    Reigning Supreme 3/1
    Morning Vicar

The four highlighted have been given as should we say 'Advice Bets' or expected to go well.

    we shall see

The 3:35 at Newbury is, as usual, damn near impossible to predict and, what with their stingy prices, a bookie's benefit? However, for my Saturday 'fun' I'll chuck a few half-crowns on Irish Roe e/w and Kalashnikov e/w plus a 'for dreamers only' R/F.

I also like the Ellison horse well handicapped ground no problem front runner who is fairly useful on the flat and enjoys a good gallop. Maybe another good Saturday winner for local boy cookie.

    Newbury 2.25pm

Native River even money favourite. Surprised he is not odds on really...although it is quite a tricky race. Saphir Du Rheu in receipt of 6lbs a threat but doesn't have a great track record unlike Native River. Not convinced cloudy dream will stay and possibly more rain to come. On the basis last year it was a similar race I hope Native River will gallop hard and that should be enough...

Don't really fancy anything else today and not lumping on here...

Why do they (Nicky Henderson included) keep saying that Altior is unbeaten? BARTERS HILL beat him in possibly the best bumper ever run! Dont bumpers count in the record books?

    <cheers> mate

I'm really hoping Native River can stamp his authority on the Gold Cup picture here. He had an awesome last season and coming here fresh I think he can win this en route to glory at Cheltenham.
