I lost my GPZ whilst being stopped at a T junction. Car coming behind me didn't stop, hit the back of my bike and shunted me straight into oncoming traffic - I was broad sided by a fiesta and flew through the air. Escaped that one with a few broken ribs and a couple of minor leg fractures.

My knee got rearranged in another low speed crash when I was overtaking stationary traffic, one car decided he wanted to get out of the queue and tried to turn right into a side road without looking or signalling. He hit my left leg and front forks and I sailed elegantly over his bonnet onto the pavement. My bike followed me and landed on my head and body. I fractured my skull, snapped ACL and PCL, and dislocated my knee to the extent that my foot was pointing backwards. Was actually lucky because although my helmet cracked like an egg, I didn't have any brain damage (well, nothing noticeable anyway I think <laugh> ) despite 175kg landing on my head.
I still love to ride, but my current wife is terrified that I'll die next time so I've held off buying one for a while. A nice old green laner beckons now though as I can argue that I'm not going to be riding in traffic much.

A lot of people have criticised him for this. I think it is great.

    To quote George Bernard Shaw:

"You see things; and you say 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?'"

Very sad. I’d love to ride a bike today, but I don’t trust drivers any more!

I love Bikes, nothing like it for relieving stress and getting your head straight. Put that helmet on and I'm in a world of My own. Generally prefer adventure bikes and naked bikes,Currently have a Bonneville T100 a CRF250l and have the use of my mates Africa twin. Stay away from sports bikes these days as I'm getting older and am not as fool hardy as I used to be and I know like your friend that they would be the death of Me. Luckily the only sports bike that I have seen that would tempt me to own one is the new Norton V4 RR. Luckily it is out of my price range.

I think some people don't realise how big outer space is, not like it's going to be a hazard travelling through the universe for the next million years or so.(unless it crashes into a planet and causes large reptile like creatures to become extinct). The world needs more Elon Musks. Great He has a sense of humour as well as vision.

A definition of really bad luck would be ambling across the Universe and being knocked over by a car. :)

My BSA has become MOT exempt from this year. I'll still take it for one for peace of mind though.

Very Nice, one of the first dual adventure bikes, do you ride it much and did you buy it in good condition, or did you do any refurbishing yourself?

I am totally a fair weather rider so it is criminally underused.

It is much as I bought it but I did have the gearbox rebuilt - I don't have that sort of ability sadly. I changed the seat and front guard to something more sleek than the originals.
