i remember being stood at coventry away while john welsh won us the game i wouldn't say john welsh is one that clarifies
Gwyn Thomas, very small, dark greying hair, contributed nothing to a game. Stan Ternant signing. I can picture him, but couldn't recall his name so had to Google it.
No Bummers. That never happened and I’m surprised at you, ‘a rather uncalled for comment if I may sit so. Tijani Belaid.
I remember making a point similar to this to an ex-player who played in the team with Thomas. However, he said, that for £30,000 (or whatever it was), Ternent and the team considered him to be a good signing for his experience in the dressing room etc. and was an important part in staying up that year.
Who was the second Eygptian? We all rated him, but Brucie never did. On that note, who was the third Jamacian who came with Whitmore and Goodison? Not sure he ever played for us, may have been a goalie, or I could just be totally making this up.
I think the latter mate. But Rodney Rowe was from the Caribbean I think, but they might have cleared off by that point anyway
apologies for typo - should have said "my least favourite city player ever". total waste of oxygen. you're right, he did nothing in a city shirt, except irritate the **** out of me.
Confusing myself re the Eygptians! I was getting Zaki mixed up with Gedo. Fathi was the other Eygptian who came over with the latter. There was a memorable (to many but not me) terrace chant if I recall. No I'm still convinced a third Jamaican came over at the same time as Theo and Goodison.
I’m 90% sure you’re correct about 3 being on trial but the other didn’t even play for the ressies before being sent packing.
I was on a weeks team building course at Willerby Manor at the same time that Theo & Goodison we're staying there with their agent (the ex Chelsea winger whose name I can't recall), there was certainly only two of them then ....... which I suppose doesn't mean a third one hadn't been ditched?
Ahhhh! That does ring a bell to be fair. Trying to think of their debut. Sure I saw it. I think it was a windswept, rain drenched Moss Rose in 0-0 draw.
Correct, Trouty; it was an FA Cup match - only Theo played though, he came on for the last 20 minutes or so; Goodie was sat with the fans in the tarpaulin and scaffold board stand. Still can't believe we had a few hardy souls stood out on that open end instead of paying the couple of quid to get under cover!
