It'll be the brilliant foil mate. Tell him how lucky he is to be able to see some live football, and that it's near impossible to get tickets for the 'big' games as there's massive waiting lists for season tickets etc, that they cost thousands and so on .... When you drop the Barca bomb he'll be so excited
I'm 58, and was a single dad with 2 young lads for a long time, and its amazing what they remember. And don't. It's never what you'd imagine it to be. I took them on holidays abroad I couldn't afford, that they don't remember, and remember weekends back home that I'd forgotten. There ain't no planning ahead for **** like that as a single parent. All you can do is give them memories you'll hope they remember.
I've been thinking of taking my lad abroad next year funnily enough but can't decide whether it's worth the money or not cos of his age. He's 4 in September.
Not really worth it mate imo. Plenty for kids to do in the UK at that age. The plane maybe exciting for him, the rest fairly forgetable.
Took my daughter to California when she was 2 and she still talks about it today and she's 4. I made a picture book of the trip for her, so it's something that she will always be able to remember the trip with. I'd say go for it mate
The memory depends on the impact of the event. Something like a trip to the Nou Camp with your old man is likely to lodge lol. My lad can remember everything about our first trip to Wembley. Life is all about enjoying moments in time and creating memories that last a lifetime. Nice shout @Stan
Back then, my oldest was 8 and the youngest 4. Neither of them remember the first time I took them on holiday as a single dad. I've taken them on holiday every year, because their mother never did, mostly to France in their early years, and in their heads, at that age, they all meld into one. He won't remember it mate. Don't spend more than you need to mate. My oldest remembers feeding the elephants at Whipsnade when he was 2 and a half, on his birthday. Probably cost 30 quid that day. Don't spend too much mate. His brain has enough to deal with. He won't remember the stuff you want him to.
Eurostar has announced that a new direct service between London and Amsterdam will begin on 4 April. There will initially be two trains per day from London's St Pancras station, each taking three hours and 41 minutes to reach Amsterdam Centraal. Return journeys will require a change at Brussels, a temporary measure until the UK and Dutch governments reach an agreement on passport procedures. Until then, passengers will need to go through security and get their passports checked in the Belgian capital. But Eurostar said that, with up to 10 trains a day from Brussels to London, the connection "should be quick and smooth". please log in to view this image Image:The pretty Dutch countryside is now just a train trip away - but two on the way back Nicolas Petrovic, chief executive of Eurostar, said: "The launch of our service to the Netherlands represents an exciting advance in cross-Channel travel and heralds a new era in international high-speed rail. "With direct services from the UK to the Netherlands, France and Belgium, we are transforming the links between the UK and three of Europe's top trading nations. "Our new route marks the culmination of the extensive investment in high-speed rail on both sides of the Channel." Tickets go on sale on 20 February and start at £35 one way
Quite conservative I’m told, I’ve not been to a game there, but I once worked with a fella who was an English Barca fan and used to go regularly. Ultimately it’ll depend on the quality of the game though, same as anywhere else.
