It was this pic that pished me off. He rarely played and when he did he was average at best and we were daft enough to make him a multi millionaire.
He had a good spell for you guys and a good scoring record at one point it's just that it transpired that was an anomaly. As for his money, most people who come into good money without having to properly work for it in the first place spunk it all up a wall anyway. If your first thought when you get some money is of all the things you can spend it on then you probably will not have money for long. Looking at the car he's a good candidate for being fat and broke by 60.
Your right what you say mate but hes never been particularly that good for us. Maybes if we'd have paid what he was worth at the time 3 or 4m i might have agreed. He scored about 20 odd goals in over 90 appeareances for us which is pretty abysmal considering the amount of money it cost to have him at the club. He could have maybes doubled that scoring ratio if the lazy b@stard had ran around and grafted abit more for the team.
Fletcher made a very good start, scoring a few classy goals in the first month or two, then faded. He picked up an injury playing for Scotland, I think, and looked shot after that, rarely putting himself about keeping well out of trouble and looking only to pick up his money. He hasn't changed from what I have seen of him recently, and has a touch of the Rodwell's about him imo.
I'd be interested to hear the clubs take on this. Khazri and Djilibodji both had relegation clauses in. Were they really on £80k a week or there abouts? If they weren't then why would we pay more to loan them out than we would if we kept them? Makes absolutely no sense
My granda went to France in 1914. Went through the battle of the Somme & came back unscathed. Had two weeks off & then straight back down the pit.
A larger version of that picture will show his Aston Martin (?) as well. Which makes you wonder where he keeps the Land Rover. The only thing worse for Footballers than being over fond of cars is supporting sick animals but not knowing they were sick when they backed them.
