So...around it comes again...the joint worst match of the season. I HATE THE NLD! This is especially the case after we were deliberately cheated in the last NLD by the worst ref in the league...if only we'd had the ref from our match v Liverpool...he was excellent My neighbour is a gooner...he had a black Ferrari but the day after the last NLD he went out in his red top but was unable to go for his Sunday drive as his pride and joy had unexpectedly spontaneously combusted In medieval times prisoners had their stomachs sliced open and their intestines pulled out and fed to rats while they were still alive as a form of torture. That kind of excruciating pain is nothing to the gut wretching bollocks crushing agony I feel in the build up in the build up to the NLD...and this is why I hate it...unless we do not lose. This is a must win game for both side as Liverpool and Chelsea have both got guaranteed 3 pointers against Everton and West Brom. Chelsea have been boosted by having Bakayoko suspended. A draw could well mean that the top 4 is beyond both of Us, a win for you gives you a glimmer of a hope and a win for us puts huge pressure on Chelsea and Liverpool so why don't you mo fos just play like you did v Bournemouth, Swansea and Forest? You know it makes sense This is only the 3rd ever NLD to be held at Wembley...Spurs won in 1991 and you lot won in 1993. Saturday is the first day of half term so the lil gooner bastards in work think that I will forget about it by time we go back...but that are sadly mistaken ... if we win I will laugh in the piss sock throwing lil feckers face and if we lose they'll lose their fecking playtimes. Have I ever mentioned that I hate the NLD????? It's very thoughtful of the ****ers at the FA to make this a early Saturday kick off so a loss can ruining the whole fecking weekend By the way...my phone, tablet and computer are all playing up so if I am not around from 3pm Saturday it won't be cos I am doing a Lord Lucan .... no sirrrreeeeee! I am taking my daughters to this ... it'll be their first NLD live...so footballing Gods...don't let us lose plllllllleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaasssse. Laters feckers
At least neither of us are playing at home. I really feel like if we are going to win an away game against our close rivals for the top 4, this is our best chance at Wembley. Also Spurs have an FA Cup replay tomorrow, while we have our legs up resting.
I agree I think it'l suit us. No one is really home and we get to play on a large Wembley pitch so super fast Auba can rip a new one on Spurs. Both Ozil and Mhki will be licking their lips pinging balls to Auba. Could be a bloodbath...
Yes but does RCL know that? Shhhhh. Seriously, this has got to be one of the most important NLD games for some time. We win and get a chance for top 4 and possibly induce St Totteringham's Day, we lose and don't get top 4 CL places. Most of the pressure is on Spurs, they are "home" and may lose their CL place. No one is expecting us to get top 4 this season, so won't go into it with much pressure. Also we go into this game full of confidence, with two fresh players looking to prove themselves. If Spurs go into the game feeling the pressure and don't capitailise on our midfield weaknesses early, they will have a very tough afternoon.
All I'm hoping for this week is that we beat Spurs by at least 3 clear goals and RCL's daughters realise that Tottenham are in fact **** and become die hard Arsenal fans.
May i respectfully request a 0-0 the highlight being a mass onfield brawl leading to 4 sending offs per side plus retrospective ban for simulation for Dele. @remembercolinlee i agree the Everton game is a certain 3 points for us but quite how we will do in our match against our reserve team this Sunday who knows
This is going to be a tough game, make no mistake. Spurs will press us high up the pitch, but that could play into our hands with the pace of Aubameyang. So I'd like to see us set up with a back four and getting balls forward quickly to Ozil, Mkhi and Aub. Spurs did this against Utd and scored within 11 seconds, one long ball forward and they were in. We won't have the time to dither on the ball in midfield passing sideways and backwards as Spurs will hurry us into mistakes and break quickly. Defensively I'd like to see a back four, with Elneny and Ramsey sitting deep with Wilshere slightly further forward and then a front three of Ozil, Mkhi, Aub. The two defensive midfielders can drop back to screen the back four and congest the middle or double up on wingers with our fullbacks. A classic set up for the counter. As I said, there's no need to try and play our way through Spurs in this game, because I don't think our midfield are strong enough to do so. We just need to be defensively strong and then get the ball out quickly to our forwards.
If we can have one of those occassional performances were the defence actually do their job and defend to a reasonable standrad then we can win this. We have the firepower to beat anyone at the moment.. But we also leak goals like a Sunday League side. Gonna be interesting for sure. Wonder if Lacazette will get a start.
I doubt it. I think wenger will go with the same front three as he did against Everton. Gotta feel for Lacazette really. He's come in and had a bit of a hard time, especially with all the **** surrounding the team with Sanchez and then he's been dropped for a new guy. That's football I suppose. He'll get his chance though
I think he will go with Xhaka instead of Elneny but I think you have it pretty much right. Xhaka gets a lot of stick, but I think he just gets the nod for me, because he is better in the air defensively, stronger on the ball, and his passing is longer and better. If you want to play a fast counterattack game Elneny is not your man for that.
I really want Xhaka to come good, but he offers too little for me. He has got a decent pass on him, but he can also be very sloppy and misplace the simplest of passes. Also his tracking of runners is woeful. For these reasons I'd have Elneny in there, who technically isn't as good, but does the simple things quite effectively. I'd play Ramsey alongside him for a bit more technical skill and then Wilshere further forward who is more creative at moving the ball forward.
Wilshere needs to play. I cringe everytime I see Elneny on the teamsheet. Sometimes he's decent but mostly it's just siedways passing and a total lack of creativity.
I would go for this too but the deep lying midfielders need to stay deep and not venture forward too much, something i haven't seen us too much. But i have a feeling that Spurs could feel the pressure. Remember they aren't home home so closing down on a large Wembley pitch will be more tiring and the added pressure that a loss can have an adverse impact on their season. I have a good feeling about this game...famous last words
