As a lifelong aficionado of tobacco, the thought of sticking one of those metal pipes in my mouth & inhaling strawberry & peach fumes fills me with horror. The plus sides to vaping seem to be you can steadily reduce the nicotine content, & they work out a lot cheaper.

Vape shops seem to be opening everywhere - two new ones in Orpington High St @ForestHillBilly , so it’s clearly a flourishing market.

I have never been tempted & never will be, but has anyone on here tried vaping?

Tried vaping around 18 months ago and initially it was great. Clothes didn’t stink, breathing after a night out was easier (on a session two 20 decks was the norm) and I can’t lie, some of the flavours were pretty decent.

The last two times I’ve tried to go back to them it’s lasted no longer than a week. I’ve upped my strength from 6 to 12mg but that did nothing either. I just now try to avoid smoking on week days and try to keep it as a social affair. Mixed results, but working better than the vape.

What’s been the main issue with sustaining it - the nicotine content ?

I think with the first time you convince yourself it’s just as good. There was a bit of novelty in it also - different tanks, flavours etc which gauges further interest. But when you’re on a night out and the battery goes, you’re pretty much ****ed. That’s what eventually got me and then you realise it has zero on a smoke.

I smoked all sorts of stuff in my twenties/ thirties. I gave it up through willpower and my strength of character.

Smoking is much less of a hassle - no leaking of liquid, don’t have to change the coils or charge it, just light it up and smoke.

I wouldn't recommend it as a recipe for long life, but there used to be a totter who used a pub I used to frequent who smoked Boar's Head pipe tobacco in roll-ups:emoticon-0119-puke:. Last thing at night he would smoke a roll-up half way, put it out and first thing when he woke up he'd smoke the other half. He was in his eighties.

You’ve got to have some simple pleasures in life. My 4 enjoyments coincidentally all begin with a C ... children, Charlton, ciggies, Conserv..

I know the risks of smoking but it can be a simple pleasure. I’ll hipefully stop one day, but right now it’s not going to happen.

My simple pleasures begin with a d for drama, F for Football, S for Shagging and a H for hiking in this green and pleasant land.

Mine are beer and music, which I need in order to recover from the stress of being a Charlton fan.

Smoked cigarettes from the age of 12 till mid 20s smoked 20 a day upwards from about 18 ...gave up overnight after being told I never could.
As for vaping I’d probably say I’d tolerate cigarette smoke more than the sweet sickly Vaping smell.
Reminds me of some Chavy funfair selling those sickly donuts.
