Gosling

Gosling can be proud of getting into the U21 squad. No doubt, at times, he feared his career might be over following his injury. I really believe he can step up into the vacancy left by Barton and make it his own, if given the chance.

 

A big reason he came here though was to play cm!

 

I think we might be going 4-5-1 quite a bit this season and when Ben Arfa isn't plaing off the front man that leaves space for 3 CM's.

Also with Tiote's suspension's he'l probably get a canny few games there.

 

I agree, I think we need to make more use of the 4-5-1 formation, given our strength in midfield. Especially as a 4-5-1 with a midfield/front line of:

Jonas, Cabaye, Tiote, Gosling, Marveaux
Ba

Can very easily become, on attack, a 4-3-3 with a midfield/frontline of

Cabaye, Tiote, Gosling
Jonas, Ba, Marveaux

That is a very good looking attacking lineup, filled with pace, flair, creativity and work ethic.

 

Hopefully the lad will have a good year. I'm still to be convinced on the injury front but fingers crossed. He did ok for Everton in his fleeting appearances. Nowt special truth be told but he was struggling to break into a very good midfield. Certainly knew how to score an important goal or two. Still young and if his injury can hold up he'll be useful for us.
