It makes me sad when Smith plays. It's a shame what's happened to him, he was my favourite player in the Championship.

 

I like his playing style (always going to ground, likes the slide tackle etc), it's quite similar to (but a lot better than) mine. He used to be one of my favourite players aswell. He's wasted here now though, not really good enough for our team. He would be brilliant for a QPR, Wolves or a Swansea etc

 

His tackling is still very good but it annoys me that he does it every time, could just take it off them without throwing yourself on the floor. If he was younger or hadnt had that horrible injury and had played CM all his career I think he'd still be useful now.

 

I just want him to score a competitive goal! He was a decent striker until Fergie converted him, I can see why he was converted because he was and still is a great tackler but I just wish he was left as a striker.

 

He has to score this year, it's about ****ing time! Had it on a plate in the Championship once, open goal against Swansea and missed. Wish he's got that goal against Arsenal in the cup, would have been one of the quickest (speed of shot) goals ever apparently.

 

TBH I'll be chuffed to bits as long as I get to see some of Vuckic, Marveaux, Gosling, Ferguson, Abeid, Cabaye, Ba and Obertan at some stage!

Why does everyone put abeid in there team. I was talking to one of the reserve lads just after he signed and he was pi**ed off that he had been given a 5 year deal as he trained for a while and apparently is nothing special and just an average youngster.

Why is everyone so keen to put Tiote in the team?

Firstly, he's fasting for Ramadan and has looked off the pace so far this season as a result, we shouldn't really make that any worse.
Secondly, he has a tendency to pick up yellow cards and we need him to avoid getting suspended as long as possible really.
Thirdly, we have plenty of CMs to play instead! Gosling, Abeid, Smith, Guthrie, even Vuckic if necessary should be able to do the job for one game.

I'd think we'd be far better off taking the Hughton approach and having him as an impact sub if it's going badly.

Have u watched abed even play,he played well in USA and could be in the first team by next season in my opinion ,and he's a generally nice guy on Facebook also

 

In the home game against Villa last season we counter-attacked with Smith and Nolan (as odd as that sounds, they were probably the slowest players on the pitch), and Nolan just had to square the ball for the oncoming Smith and it would be an easy finish. Unfortunately Smith was tripped before he could get there.

I was there when Smith DID score though! It was on his debut in a friendly at SJP if anyone remembers. I rekber thinking 'that'll be the first of many', oh how wrong I was!

 

I agree. For an "average youngster" he certainly does a damned good impression of a very good, very promising youngster.

i'd like to see us line up like that but with dosling in for abied. and 3 subs rather than 4

 

If he looked good then play him, I have yet to see him play it was just what I was told when he first signed, the player was jeff henderson.

 

Now there is an average youngster. To me, it sounds like sour grapes from Henderson. No doubt he'll be even more grumpy when we sign Darnel Situ and he leapfrogs Henderson in the CB pecking order.
