I’m not so quick to write off Faugheen just yet and was encouraged by the run yesterday. Will be burdened by my cash should he make the Festival.
If you take the view that it will be Prestbury Park with Ruby on his back then yes, he isn't completely out of it and with 8/1 available in places (I assume all firms are now NRNB) he might be worth an e/w nibble as I believe the race will cut up badly. Apart from Buveur D'Air, you'd be pressed to name 2 other hoses who you'd think would finish ahead of him.
Faugheen does look an absolute shadow of himself truth be told. The Champion Hurdle is all the worse for it, I thought last year's was as bad a renewal as there was but this years renewal will be absolute muck.
Excluding one sub par year last year, Mullins horses are always a different force at Cheltenham though. Wouldn't surprise me if Faugheen wins whatever race he enters by an absolute canter and looks a beast again
If Samcro were yours Beefy and he absolutely hacks up in the Deloitte today would you be tempted to go Champion Hurdle with him?
I'd still have an e/w nibble at 6s stick - if the race cuts up as badly as I expect he will be shorter on the day
He's the best there is around but that just tells you that there's naff all else around now. The only time he faced top level 2milers in Altior and Min he got walloped. The Tent, bless him, cant be the force he was a few seasons ago and he's the best line of form Buvair fans have to cite him a superstar. In fairness no one here is doing that bar the forum WUM who doesn't even believe half what he writes himself anyway
Less than zero chance of that happening fellas in my opinion. There is always next year for the youngster but maybe start backing him now!
Give up the game if ye think 6/1 Is a good each way price for him. There is as much chance of him being pulled up as there is of him being placed. As for winning it forget about it.
Its a good point Odddy. As Beefy says its a poor looking race. If I were Elliott I would seriously consider running Apples Jade. (then La Bague Au Roi would look huge at 14's for the Mares)
That might just happen stick. I can't believe Gigginstown will leave the race alone given the talent they have. Realistically the mare looks their best chance unless Samcro wins half the track today. I would seriously think about supplementing the novice if he is impressive today, I can't imagine the Champion Hurdle being a much tougher race than the supreme (in terms of the horse's wellbeing) and look what Coneygree did as a novice.
