    absolutely superb. France v ireland.

    Scrums, proper scrums.

Rucks, mauls, line outs. Technically excellent.
So much better than British bulldog.

Great try from France to go ahead.

Fantastic finish to a great game. Ireland win it with the last kick of the game.

Yes. Brilliant they way they engineered that despite resolute French defending. Won't get a mention on RH Talk Sport as usual though.

Just listened to the end on 606 phone in, before having to turn off because there was one too many “plum in the mouth” middle class accents on.

A bit of Hull type inverted snobbery there, Ben.

You do well to get a ticket for an England game. My mate goes now and again through connections having played the game.
They remember their own there. Brid played in a minor cup final there not so long ago. The father of a poster on CI is in the Guinness ,Book Of Records for the longest ever penalty kick (set on my old school pitch, and apertaining to your post about pitches, no longer used. Gone from 5 pitches to one and an all weather square. Somehow this means that they haven't lost anything).
Anyway, they knew about him being from Brid, had to give a speech and never had to buy a drink.

I’ve been several times, in fact one of my favourite memories ever was going with my Dad when he was alive (1996 five nations against Ireland...the one Will Carling got stretchered off in and we win the Triple Crown)
    Brilliant atmosphere
Yeah there’s a few upper class twits, but nowhere near as many as people make out. Vast majority are normal club players who’ve got their tickets through their clubs

I also went to Ireland v England at the old Landsdowne Road ground in Dublin with Mrs Tash

I have never ever seen so many drunks in one City at one time. Phenomenal levels of boozing
Loads of English over there in groups, but some groups would only have a couple of tickets between them then put their names in a hat for them and everyone else would stop and watch it in the pub

Landsdowne Road was a brilliant old ground

Was sat in the airport on the way back and kept hearing a name being called over and over again for a flight. Suddenly the book who’d been sat next to us necking Guinness after Guinness turned to me and said ‘****...that’s me!’ He proceeded to ask which gate he was supposed to go to. I told him, but also that it was a long way as he was in the wrong place...he mulled over his predicament for a minute...then said ‘aw **** it...I’ll worry about it tomorrow’ and ordered another pint!!!

I’ve just listened to Leeds supporter, Douglas, what a ****. Manc City supporter whinging now that teams purposely kick their players to leave a mark because the game’s usually gone after 20mins, at least he had a bit of a Manc accent but still a ****.

No snobbery, just a true, yet sad, reflection of who follows football at this current time.

That is the thing with union, players keep in touch with their clubs. At my local club three quarters of the crowd are people of all ages who played at one time. Some nice totty as well at Twickenham.

Sorry, thought it was a remark directed at rugby union types following on from the other posts.

And, they can take copious amounts of ale without kicking off.

Union isn't my cup of tea, much prefer League.

However, it sounds like a fantastic game this afternoon and I'm glad you've all enjoyed it. It's great when sport brings people together :emoticon-0148-yes:

I agree the 6 nations are a great spectacle. But, proper rugby? Go and watch, I don't know, Hessle on a wet November Saturday afternoon. You'll see a bunch of fat blokes who can hardly run bumping into one another for 80 minutes before heading off to the bar and getting legless in their jeans and Cotton Traders shirts.

Slight exaggeration maybe but only slight.

France were not technically excellent, they were offside more times than I can remember and their scrum was hopeless. Ireland flattered to deceive, who was it scored the try?

And no-one's mentioned the Wales-Scotland game, the Scots were appalling, played like headless chickens and couldn't win a lineout in a month of Sundays.

I think the 6 nations is so well marketed and presented we think all RU is like that. Well I don't think it is.

I also think by and large RL is more watchable more often.

There, rant over, I'm retiring to my bunker with tin hat firmly in place. :emoticon-0139-bow:
