Step Back at chepstow , this is a bit speculative but with Bradstock and de Boinville having a good record at the course and this fellow shown decent potential, at 11/2.im taking a chance !
    1 40 , i see his price has come into 4/1 ........

With one fail swoop my interest in Irish racing dies with the news RUK are taking coverage from ATR as of 1st Jan 2019. I can’t stand RUK coverage of any event. Genuinely this will probably end my interest in racing altogether. Shame.

Mostly prefer ATR, except for M.Chapman, but find RUK always a blessed relief, giving a break from the incessant ad bombardment on ATR. In any case you'll probably find the ATR Irish presenters will just migrate to RUK.

I realise this is all about tastes and preferences, but I think RUK is streets ahead of ATR in terms of content and pundits (with the saving grace for ATR being the excellent Gary O'Brien). Nick Luck and Lydia Hislop are both decent anchors (although I much prefer Nick Luck) and I think both Steve Mellish and Jonathan Neesom are absolutely peerless when it comes to discussing the chances of a horse in terms of form and paddock views.

Agree with Hawkward on the ads too - drive me nuts (although I understand why they are necessary). I actually like Chapman, but again that is just personal preference - I know he tends to polarise opinion <laugh>

What do you expect when one is free and one is £20-30 a month though

Neither of them is 'free', surely?!? Cheapest you can get ATR directly is £9.99 per month. You can also get it as part of Sky or Virgin sub. RUK is as you say £20-£30 per month, can't remember exactly.

Many, of course, get both channels free or at minimal cost via dodgy but widely available means :emoticon-0125-mmm:

Oh ok, It's free inclusion within sky/virgin, didn't think you could get it independently ? Whereas RUK requires a subscription

IMO by far the best analyst is Eddie 'The Shoe' Fremantle, who you will only catch occasionally on RUK. They should make much more use of him. Whatever he says about an upcoming race, sit up and take notice. His head is full of much more detail than all the others, mainly because punting the gee-gees remains his main source of income. That's no longer the case for the likes of Dave Nevison.

Reminds me of the classic watery fowls, but Waldorf salad has to be backed. On its best form should beat this lot, been backed . If anyone's interested my brother has another dog running at Sheffield 9.00 feather blade t 3says it should win.

Crap that really is. I get ATR as part of my basic Sky package and wouldn't be subscribing to RUK anytime soon. Can't see ATR surviving with what they'll have left after this year. As for Matt Chapman I've warmed to him. I like the fact he doesn't fawn over racing folk like so many of his fellow racing broadcasting colleagues do. I very rarely watch ITV's Opening Show but caught it last week and Chapman got more insight out of Ruby Walsh than he ever gave in his appearances with Channel 4.
RIP Malcolm Jefferson. Very sad news and I hope his Waiting Patiently lands a big un at either Cheltenham or Aintree. Hopefully both.

Yes, me too, although it took me a while to get used to Matt. Actually, I like nearly all of the ITV team, not wild about Hayley, but enjoy her occasional visits to stables and riding-out a horse that is under discussion. A.P.? Well, he is hardly loaded with charisma, and I have this feeling he does not like to be questioned on an opinion. Could be wrong there though.

Had a wild thought the other day. It would be interesting to see Matt Chapman and the BBC's financial presenter, Aaron Heslehurst, on the same show? Discussing what, have not a clue, but loud it would be and earplugs a real necessity. :emoticon-0100-smile
