So would we prefer that we moved to our other options (if there are any) or push and push for Promes although it might not happen regardless?
Fair play to the club. We went for a signing few thought we could pull off. We did everything right but Sparta’s poor work on a replacement undid us. As others have said, this is not a relegation squad and it would be nice to see the chinks of light these last few games start to turn the season around.
Really confuses me when people are so sure that our squad isn't a relegation squad. The last 12 months suggests otherwise.
Only the last 6 months since Pellegrino took charge. Our last 6 months under Puel was no where near as bad as some seem to make out. We are in the relegation zone mainly due to poor management.
Can't see West Brom beating City so that will keep us off bottom if the worst happens. After Saturday though....
Obviously everyone is free to voice their opinion in anyway they like, but we really don't need booing/chanting aimed at Reed etc tonight. It will also impact the players. After FT feel free if you want to but to the people going please back the lads for 90 minutes. Thanks!
Now that’s an interesting view. I had just been thinking the opposite. Last season, though I stopped short of criticising Puel, I rarely got excited by our style of play. There were far too many games when IF we had shots on goal you could count them on one hand. And the body language from manager and players when they walked round the pitch at the end of the Stoke game convinced me there would be changes. MP2 has at least got me enjoying football again (as opposed to the results). What has frustrated me this season is the lack of effort from VVD (and Bertrand on occasions ), the poor form of Forster and the tendency to drop deeper when we have an arrow lead to hold onto. I can live with the lone striker since most clubs are heading this way and makes little difference if others push forward. But we all have different opinions and I respect yours - just funny that we were thinking along almost opposite lines!
In our last 15 matches under Puel, we won 5 drew 4 lost 6. Yes the style of football was bland and it sounded like he had lost a lot of the players in the dressing room, and I wasn't apposed to moving him on either, but it appears Pellegrino still has the players playing for him. Just don't see why people think we have been in relegation form for 12 months is all...
Take out the clubs that were relegated last year and we were one of the worst. We are in the relegation zone because our centre backs can't win headers, and our goalkeeper turned to gas when the ball came near him. Pellegrino hasn't been great by any stretch, and I'm not convinced whether he is good enough, but the players (Forster & Centre backs mainly) are the reason we're in the mess we are.
I haven't been enjoying it. Not just because of the results, we have no cohesion in attack. We don't have a natural goalscorer (except austin- injured) our midfield rarely dominates games like it used to. Our attack is impotent. I think the only reason MP2 is more exciting than Puel is goals- except we're conceding them!
19pts from 15 games is not quite relegation form, depending on the season. That averages 48pts for a season, unlikely to result in relegation.
Unlikely Highest is West Ham with 42 I think around 2003. It's also more wins from 15 than we have so far this season.
True, but if you look at the remaining fixtures: we are likely to amass no more than 10-12 points if we continue to play at our current level which puts us lower to mid 30's: that is relegation form.
