I saw Aina try a shot which he scuffed off the top outside of his boot and the ball flew square/backwards to Bowen on the far side of the penalty area.
Totally agree. The fact we couldn't break down that Leeds side, who I have to say are one of the worst visiting teams I have seen at the KC is worrying and disappointing in equal measure. I think we've got worse under Adkins. Our attacking threat we had under Slutsky has completely evaporated. I thought he made the wrong subs today - he should have taken off Campbell and left Dicko on. Campbell looked dead on his feet for most of the second half.
The Problem is mate we don't have enough competition for places to make the shot shy or those who go missing every other week culpable for thier actions.
The booing is not on. I am trying hard to be positive about Adkins, but on Saturday Irvine playing 10 linking nicely with Dicko and Bowen, giving Bowen space and this worked well. We scored two and looked dangerous in attack. I thought Adkins had found the plot. So tonight he moves Irvine out to the wing again, Bowen goes quiet and we go back to be 'unlucky' in front of goal. Mmm...
Defence was good, what the heck has happened to Tamori? An attacking full back he is not, he doesn’t overlap enough meaning Bowen is 2 on 1. Irvine can’t pass. Dicko was poor. Campbell and Dawson where exceptional.
This is the second home game and then streams, but I thought Leeds had a bit of something about them and we nullified it. Not in a Man City kinda way, but in this league. I totally agree we lack that killer punch. There were times when I was willing a CB, any CB, to storm in like Harry.. but alas... I do disagree though, about under Adkins. Not great, sure. Another unconvincing media man, yes. But how many worthwhile chances did Leeds have tonight? Not many. Whereas we were so ****ing unlucky. Well that’s how I would have felt as manager or player. Sometimes you just are. I was glad to see Campbell do a full shift and even more glad to see him hungry for the ball, everywhere on the pitch. I liked Tomori, he has quality. A tad lightweight in the tackle/challenge, but he has skill he can use. We need to use it more as a team and less isolating him - I saw no one in midfield pushing to support him. There were negatives, of course there were; we are where we are...
But Irvine did pass and well on Saturday, lots of energy - defence as well as attack plus he linked with Dicko and Bowen. We always looked to get forward and ask questions of Forest. For all Campbell's hard work (and I like Campbell) there's no end product. Irvine is far better in a central and forward role and not out on the wing.
Just listen to his post match press conference where he's had a go at burnsy for being negative, Adkins just came out with a cracker to match his "we had a good warm up " comments , told burnsy he was being negative, when Burnsy asked if there were any plans to bring a striker in the window he replied, " David we put the ball in Leeds box 47 times tonight " yes Nigel but the score was still 0, that's why he asked the question were haven't put the ball in the opponents goal in the last 7 games( league) , have to say i can't make up my mind regards Atkins is he a 1) Victim of circumstance 2) a yes man for the Allams 3) a bullshiter or a bit of all three, what i do know is all this over the top positivity is starting to pee me off somewhat.
Campbell was a nackered in the first half. He's got serious fitness issues. Dicko should have stayed on. Irvine was a fish out of water left midfield. Leeds were **** really really ****. The little twat with the blonde hair was a right ****er. They fouled all the time, little, niggly fouls. They dived all the time. Horrible ****ing team.
Fatty in negative shocker. Even the Leeds ****ers sat around us couldn't understand how we didn't win. Greegsy never made a save. Campbell didn't hit the target in the first ****ing minute, that set the tone. Adkins isn't responsible for, poor finishing. It will come.
He isn't Chazz, but he is responsible for selecting a half fit Campbell and moving Irvine out to the left where he looks and has previously looked least effective. I do like Adkins, but am totally baffled as to why he changed Saturday's Irvine/Dicko/Bowen set up. Their confidence must have been sky high after the Forest game. Campbell could have been brought on later in the game if he was desperate to get him on at some point. Whilst I wouldn't wish an injury on anybody, what is the point of Henrickson? Am I missing something here?
Aina needs to be playing RB, he was so much better there against Forest. When he plays there he also creates space for Bowen - who barely touched the ball tonight with Tomori behind him.
Well i hope your right, according to Adkins we needed 10 wins to avoid relegation when he took over, therefore we need 9 more wins from the remaining 17 game's that some ask, in fact i would say it's more like promotion form.
