There's been a lot of talk regarding Merino moving on. I don't understand it at all. We sign a player most have never heard of, young and excellent technique. He plays well and quickly becomes a fan favourite then Rafa reverts to barely playing him and we're swiftly looking to ship him out for a profit. Has he shagged Rafa's wife or something?
It may well just be a case of a great offer. They’ve got the Laporte money, and already signed Inigo Martinez from Sociedad (that will cause ****ing MAYHEM btw) for £28 million - apparently they’ve been after him since way back when he was at Osasuna.
We'll have to wait and see what gets confirmed tomorrow but I'm fairly happy with our business, from the perspective that we have **** all to spend. I'd rather get young talent in than has beens looking for a final payday. Plus it looks like we've got rid of Steele which is a relief and we didn't sign Lonergan which again is a good thing.
