I wonder if by paying the release clause rather than a transfer fee that QP then doesn't receive his 15% (which I assume is a pretty major part of the deal for him), so we are pushing for transfer rather than release, but not wanting to pay the extra?

I think we may be using the “Alderweireld gambit”, that worked so well in bringing Toby to SMS,on a permanent deal.

Funny, I was just typing out the same thing. If we're hoping to win an argument over the technicalities of the contract of a player in Russia, we're going to be sorely disappointed.
 
It's mad how players like Promes are now 30m, in todays market Aguero would be 100m at least

Imo buying Promes at £30m will improve us more than buying two players at £20m that are only the same or slightly better than what we have. I can't think of anything better to spend the money on than Promes.

Particularly if he fancies the move as is being reported.
