Bristol City have signed French striker Lois Diony on loan from Saint-Etienne until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent deal in the summer. The 25-year-old, who has yet to score in the/ANY league this season, could make his Bristol City debut against QPR in the Championship on Saturday.

"Lois is a very interesting signing for us," said City head coach Lee Johnson.

Lee Johnson's side drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture back in December, with Bobby Reid's penalty cancelling out Aden Flint's unfortunate own goal at Loftus Road.

QPR have been a bit up and down lately. Hopefully we're not too leggy from Tuesday and they have another off day - unfortunately, ol' Ian Holloway seems to rile his sides up when playing City, so I'm expecting another close one.

If we play as we're capable, we should win, which would be very nice to prove that this recent form has been down to mitigating circumstances. It'll be very interesting to see the squad selected, as Kent is surely pushing for a start on the left, Diedhiou up front and now Diony in our ranks. Once Pisano is back, we're pretty much full strength (though O'Dowda was also playing very well before his injury). Not convinced Gary O'Neil will ever be considered 1st choice again...

We SHOULD win this as I really believe we are man for man better than QPR.
Holloway will have his boys psyched up though - and I don’t think it will be a walkover. Whatever you think of him, Holloway is a good manager and will have done his homework.
We just need to be very disciplined and patient and wear them down.

Bristol City could give a debut to striker Lois Diony after he joined on loan from French side Saint-Etienne.
Nathan Baker and Famara Diedhiou are pushing for starts but goalkeeper Frank Fielding (groin) is out.
QPR defenders Alex Baptiste and James Perch and midfielder Jordan Cousins could return to the squad after injury.
Midfielder David Wheeler (ankle), forward Jamie Mackie (back) and strikers Paul Smyth (thigh) and Idrissa Sylla (calf) are all sidelined.
    Match facts
    • Bristol City are unbeaten in seven home league matches against QPR (W3 D4) since losing 3-1 in September 2002.
    • However, Ian Holloway was in charge of the Hoops for that victory in 2002 during his first spell in charge.
    • Bristol City are without a win in their last four league games (D1 L3), after winning five of their previous six (D1).
    • QPR have picked seven points in their last four Championship away games (W2 D1 L1), more than the west London side had picked up in their previous 17 (5 points - 5 draws, 12 losses).
    • The Robins have failed to score in each of the last three league outings after scoring in eight successive games; the last time they failed to score in four consecutive league games was February 2011 (4).
    • Of players to have scored five goals or more in the Championship this season; QPR's Matt Smith has the highest percentage of headed goals (83.3% - five of his six).

Game was on live over here which was cool. We defended pretty well with 10 men and the boys really put a lot of energy in. That was a bad tackle by Baker and can't complain at the red card.

Steele had a few awkward moments coming to try and collect crosses and failing miserably.

Good performance all round, especially with 10 men, QPR were shocking really, despite the sending off the officials were pathetic, absolutely useless

Hollowhead must have thought his luck was in! took off a defender for Smith, and still couldn't get much possession, ending the game 54% to city after being in the 60% till about 70plus minutes...

Didn't see the game live, but impressive to win 2-0 when a man down for an hour. An important win and reasons to be optimistic - Diedhiou showing how valuable an option he is.

The officials were awful today, never a red card for Baker and I'm certain on appeal that will be rescinded. He wasn't last man, wasn't a high tackle, wasn't a two footed lunge, wasn't studs up, wasn't from behind, so how the hell was it a red card?

Great win and clean sheet, really chuffed for Fammy to score, that will give him a big confidence boost after so long out. Intelligent use of team changes and subs by LJ today I thought, gave some players a rest and a bit more game time for others. Kent looked good first half but faded when it got a bit scrappy in the second half. Reid covered a lot of ground today and worked hard at both ends.

Great to see a big crowd as well after the mid-week game.

Did anyone hear Holloway’s comments after the game?
    Better team won
    Angry with his own players
Red card was really a yellow.

Not everyone’s favourite person but I thought he was quite respectful towards us. Also a bit harsh on his own team. Yes, they were poor, but they seemed to at least put the effort in - they were simply not good enough.

Hugely impressive performance by our 10 men - a whole 6 days now to prepare for Bolton

I love Bobby he runs and runs, but we did look like we had more of a presence up front, Diony coming on also looked quick and powerful, this will bring a different aspect to our game now. Sides had figured us out recently.

I also thought Reid looked more effective being able to come a little deeper now and again, the spell having to lead the line was a good learning curve for him

    Good reasons to be optimistic.

Makes me laugh they call the little stinker 'Hollow', not a very popular man, except at the minimal and they sacked him.

Yeah much improved from Kent. Still a little greedy but miles and miles better than the infuriating 'performance' first time out.

Bring on Bolton. We're well and truly back imo, and in the 17 games between now and the rest of the season it's only Cardiff, Leeds and maybe Middlesbrough away that I'm really worried about. There is not one game left this season that isn't winnable, we've got many of the harder games out of the way.

Diony looks a right player too, him and Diedhiou up top together could be lethal.

I don't know; it wasn't a pretty challenge, with a bit of a 'scissor' element. That a lost appeal results in an extended ban, I think we'll probably take it on the chin and accept it.

It was one of those where it's definitely a yellow at least and then down to the man with the whistle to decide if it's enough for a red. What I will say though it that it didn't seem nearly as bad as Joe Bennett's challenge on Sane in the Cardiff-Man City game, for which he only got a yellow - it was ugly as hell and it seemed as though he was looking at Sane's ankle, rather than the ball (i.e. knew he wasn't going to catch him and not only wanted to commit a 'professional foul', he wanted to hurt him).

Assuming Baker is out, is it simply a straight replacement with Magnusson, with Bryan at left back and Kent starting on the left wing? Pisano should only be a week and a half away to provide another option, so Wright can move to centre-back when he's fully fit.
