http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/24082011/58/champions-league-fenerbahce-champions-league.html Internet talk hints that we actually stand a chance of getting back into this years competition. Not sure if it is the fairest choice, I personally think it should go to another Turkish side, but I'd bite their hand off given the opportunity.
I suspect another Turkish team would get the place... And even if an English team were allowed to take their place, it would go to Spurs because they finished above us last season.
Can you imagine 'Arrys face if they gave us a place It'll never happen....but nice thought all the same
Haven't Spurs already played in the Europa League? They can't bump them up to Champions League if they have already played the first leg.
Could you imagine rival fans as well?! Man, it would kick off if we got a Champions League place... Like you said though, cannot see this happening.
It won't go to us, no matter how much we want it- it will probably go to the highest co-efficient loser from the qualifying stages. It would be super amusing to read the United forum if, not only we were let in- but went on to win the competition... Obviously we're not going to be let in- I think I have more odds of winning the lottery... and I haven't even purchased a ticket... still it would be funny.
But then there will be a spare place in the Europa league, and we're the team with the highest co-efficient thats not in European football.
In that case, we may stand a chance at being in the Europa league... they willl not put us in the Champions League... as much as I'd love it- we don't deserve to be there this year... Maybe we'll have a chance at Europa.
We might not deserve it, but there's a remote chance of it happening. It's not a huge one, and I won't bother getting my hopes up, but its one of the possibilites, albeit the most unlikely one.
MUFC's Head has exploded. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/79599-Liverpool-back-in-Europe?p=1137785#post1137785
so Berlusconi has more power in EUFA than the Turkish FA. Not surprising We should not be in there, imagine the cries from United fans if we got in and won it though
That's just naughty! but I like it. But as Raaaul points out, as the team with the best co-efficient, we do stand a chance, depending on UEFA's rules on this scenario, if they even have any. All the other options do seem fairer, but it is UEFA's cup, and if they want to bring in the team that will increase the value of the tournament the most, it is up to them, no matter how unfair it appears to Turkey or the arse and yids. But that is why they have these things call coefficients. So why have them if you don't make use of them, just to keep some statto in a job? Why put Arsenal back in? They are in no shape to make any difference, and would probably fall out at the group stage, because I think it is now too late to add any new players they may buy, to their European squad. So do you then give it to Spurs? Is that any fairer? Do UEFA disrupt their other cup competition? Making changes there too? You have to hope that UEFA already have guide lines in place, so that it doesn't look like they are making it all up on the fly.
