Good Morning Everyone It looks likely that Leeds will up their offer for Tyler Roberts. The 19 year old forward has been on TC's radar for a little while. Their initial offer of 4m was turned down. I wonder how much higher they will go? Leeds have said they would like to sign Matthew Pennington on a permanent deal in the Summer! Good idea or not? FC Utrecht will explore the possibility of signing Leeds midfielder Mateusz Klich on a permanent deal at a later stage, according to De Telegraf. The Dutch newspaper claim that there is no stipulation of an option to buy inserted into the initial loan of Klich that was announced on Monday. But De Telegraf report that there are “possibilities” to keep the central midfielder for longer as he “does fit into the long term planning” of the club hierarchy. Have we missed something on Klich?
Morning elk and all. Has football gone totally mad when 4m won’t secure the signing of someone who has never played in the championship and has one first team Appearance for wba. I don’t know anything about the lad but where does this valuation come from. I despair at the current state of football. Thanks sky
Roberts a kid who has played at all age groups for Wales except full International, he scored 1 goal only for the U21s and none at 17, 19 & 20 level. Hes on loan at Walsall where hes played 15 times and scored 5 but hardly prolific and last season played for Shrewsbury where he scored 4 times. Its a peetake. We dont need another for the future and if he struggles to score in L1 why would he be prolific in the Championship. We have a 19 year old called Grot who finds it hard, we have loads of young strikers already, so not for me.
Eric I posted this last night on the transfer thread, but since then have learned that McContract scored 14 from 16 down under? whats the standard these days? "Think the press are running out of strikers they can link us to. Surely there is no way we are going to shell out £7m on an aging defender and a past it lazy greedy has been from Villa. I think if this were real fans would kick off. The Roberts kid isnt a finished article. 19yo but cant get into a not very good WBA team, so is this kid better than Wilkes or any one of our countless young strikers? Marriot looks to have gone on too long but Peterboro are wanting over £6m with West Ham, Palace and Villa all rumored to be chasing him. Villa would need to sell maybe an ageing defender and agreedy striker to fund it so fook ‘em why should we help Villa get promoted. Would be a good buy for us though but not sure we will pay that. Bradley Dack from Blackburn is scoring goals but he is about 6 goals behind Marriot in the same league, but Marriot is in a team half way and struggling so great pwrformnce from him, but Dack is in a team who are top of the league so you would expect a striker scoring. For me this shows that Marriot is way better than Dack. Maybe a player swap leaving Antonnson with Blackburn, but hes still out injured. The problem in the UK is prices so I would gamble and invest in Marriot, not Hugill but maybe the best gamble would be half the Marriot money for a Serbian International who scores goals for fun this last 2 seasons. Prijavic. Lots of stories about this over the last month but all quiet this last week or so. Prijavic is wanted by Rennes but he wants to come to Leeds but cant find out if thats true or if we have approached them".
Good Morning to Matt and co from a very windy Bardsey I think that there is no way we would even think about McContract he is on 40k a week not bad for someone who cant open a gate and Elpohick well they paid 9M for him and is over 30 so no thank you My money is on Marriot and Madison but we could get our Spanish club to buyTyler for 300k and loan him to us saving 3.6m now that's what I call Aldi shopping!
doc can;t argue with your assessment re the amount of teenage strikers we're collecting and that's a lot of money for roberts... a lot of people seem to rate him and he's just a kid, but there's no stats to support this. Re Dack, he's an attacking midfielder so the goal return is pretty good.
Morning troops - kind of agree with Doc regarding Roberts, we have plenty of future stars on the books already. Certainly agree with Eire that £4m is outrageous for him. Thing is, even someone knocking them in for fun at L1 level like Marriot can find it difficult in the Chamionship - look at Roofe. And again, Roofes cost £3m, not £6-7m.
Rumour has it that Leeds will be unveiling a new club badge at midday today. Another rumour it has a graphic giving the Leeds salute.
Its FA Cup week who you got ? any chance of going through with us to the next round where it all starts to get exciting
According to Phil Hay this morning, Leeds say £8m is too much for Hugill, £6m too much for Marriot and £4m too much for Roberts, plus Roberts still in talks with WBA about new contract. I agree that maybe too much for Marriot as he averages a goal every 4 games until this season. So a gamble to some extent as you have to hope he has now learnt how to do his job. You also have to believe he is better than his numbers because he is scoring loads in a crap team. But a big step up playing for Leeds with the expectations and the quality of the teams in this league, so a gamble. Another way to look at it though is to think if Wood was worth £15m then the top scorer in the league down must be worth half? Wood isnt prolific though in the next league up
hey doc looked at Burnley team and can't see wood on team last match.my problem with leeds and strikers is we could have signed ALF from rotherham cox from swindon and so many others.Peterboro have produced so many good players who have gone on to play at a higher level.if we can't spend six mill on one player be it home grown or euro/asian then we have no chance of being in top six.
yeah we even don't have to plat Saturday giving the poor tired players extra time to get a tan. what's next on the leeds site today i wonder.more photos of them relaxing and doing leg raises on sunbeds.
