    “Tit”?!

I wasn’t even in an argument.

The messi too short rubbish. I literally praised a signing less than 24 hours ago. Also said Edwards was an exciting prospect. We don’t need more midfielders, but they are still decent enough.

Tell me the class signings we have made to fill our obvious voids, and il happy clap with my eyes closed along with you. As it is, we have sold players, without replacements in place in the most expensive window of the season, and the deeper you go into the window either your getting your pants pulled down on money, or you are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Basically, with some fans (?) whatever we do is wrong. I admit to wearing yelllow and green glasses for the most part, but I hope I am realistic enough to understand our current situation,. (However it has come about, and whoever is instrumental in its creation).Basil, at the start of the season was scoring rather freely when picked. He was the fans favourite. Now he is not scoring so he is the butt of all anger. Is he playing badly on purpose, which is intimated by some posters? Or is he, and the team, having a bad run? If he wants a transfer, he would most likely have a good club interested in him if he was banging in the goals, not in the middle of a drought. Had he, for instance, scored a couple against Chelsea, he would now have several top league suitors and these same posters would be urgeing us to keep him. Fine margins.

I cannot dispute some of the points raised and would fully agree that if we sold Basil and just relied on Abrahams and, perhaps, Morris recalled from loan it would be a serious problem. All I am saying is that we should wait and see where we are in a weeks time before passing final judgement. What I do find strange is that on this and many other threads we have people moaning about the number of midfielders on our books yet 4 of the 6 players you mention as causing a problem if they get injured are midfielders. I will be surprised if we do not sell Basil and bring in 2 new strikers but equally I think that the new structure, lack of spending power, being self funded and reliance on producing our own talent are facts of life and such a transformation can take time.

And there, my friend, is the crux of the problem - a reluctance to accept the financial reality. Our days of making ' class signings ' are over. Such signings cost transfer fees we cannot afford and will not come to a Club trying to cut wages to under £10k per week. We are in the market for freebies, cheapies and loans from either the UK or abroad and it from those sections that any new strikers will come even if we sell Basil. We just have to trust the judgement of SW and DF when delving in those areas and I would also mention that if financial restrictions have been tough to swallow this season it is going to be worse next season when we lose the parachute payment. And yes I do think that calling someone a 'tit' is personal abuse unless you are referring to one of the splendid pair that adorn Carol Kirkwood!!!

I apolagise for the tit comment. I was shocked and hurt about the personal abuse of me saying Messi would be too short, and I flailed a defensive “tit”.

The financial problem is down to how poorly the club has been run though! It was all there for the club. We were in such a privelidged position. They just totally blew it all.

Edit: just had to google Carol Kirkwood, and yes, good point.

While this is true, and well documented, a certain Mr Lambert used to get his signings and outgoings done asap each window, knowing that the later in the month you leave it, the more desperate you might be and end up paying well over the odds for a bang average player.
God knows. we're cash-strapped enough already, why exacerbate things by waiting until the last few days or even the [dreaded - I no longer watch the tw@t] 'yellow tie' day, aka deadline day <yikes>,
where the likelihood of being fleeced still further is bleedin' obvious?

It's not a simple case of, oh well, Pritchard has been sold but we have "insert name" to replace him as he is a midfielder also.

It doesn't work like that unfortunately. Pritchard at this level is a quality player, far superior to the other midfielders we have on our books that can "replace" him.

Our squad has been weakened a lot by Pritchard's departure, as it has been by Jacob's, Jerome's and Howson. The money may be good but it's not being re-invested into the first team. I would also like to point out that Both Jerome and Wildschut have been sold to rivals in the Championship that have a very good chance of being promoted. We have strengthened our rivals and weakened ourselves.

With a week to go I hope we do get some decent players in, not just for this season but to try and build for next season because as it stands. The squad numbers wise is a bit down on where it should be but more importantly the QUALITY of the squad has taken a massive hit so far in the January window.

I don't think anyone can argue with that.

I will always support Norwich but the way the club is being run at the moment concerns me as I don't see the squad being invested in it feels like we have raised the white flag in terms of getting back into the PL anytime soon.

If the fans can accept the lack of ambition and still renew their ST's then fine but I know an awful lot of people that are not renewing this year.

Well I can say I have never heard of him, but some people I trust on Twitter think he's good.

    Bethnal Y and G‏@BethnalYG

Hernandez has a very similar profile to Wildschut, right footed and likes to play out on the left. Excellent dribbler and incredibly quick - unlike Wildschut he plays with his head up more and can actually pass.

Rumour has it Sam Field from WBA on loan. Guess what? He is ANOTHER mid field player! Sorry, lost count of how many this would be but I expect some of you out there will know.

Well I can confirm that Onel has only joined twitter in the last few days, but apart from a host of German clubs he only follows one English Club.
And that would be Norwich City.

In this day of social media if that does not confirm things what will?

Field is a holding midfielder, whereas Cantwell is an attacking midfielder. It's an HITC rumour so I wouldn't attach much credibility to it. There may be some concern about Trybull's injury but unless that's true I can't why we'd bring in a loan rather than calling Godfrey back.

As for Kemp's comments on Pritchard being our best midfielder, why was Maddison forcing him to play out of position? Pritchard is a good player, but of the two, I'm glad we kept Maddison (and no, I don't think he'll leave this window). We got good money for Pritchard and it's allowed us to move on to sign new players, which I'm confident we will now do.

I think the point is that he's another central midfield player. Cantwell is a central midfield player (yes more in a Maddison role than a Tetty role), but it's still an area of the pitch that we have probably the most options in the squad.
