Well having not seen or heard anything of the match I decided to read through this thread as I knew you’d tell it like it was. Thank you all, sounds like we deserved at least that point. Did we actually play 2 good halves in the same match? That would be a first this season!

Just got in and still buzzing, what a great match and atmosphere, really got the juices flowing.
Maybe, just maybe Pellegrino is learning.
Play your best players and you get a performance like that, possibly the only change I would've had was Boufal in for Tadic (but it is a close call).
The things I was callling for before the match happened, players were brave on the ball and there appeared to be a real team spirit. we exploited the wide areas really well and pressed a lot higher than usual.
The midfield four were energetic and used the ball well and should be our first choice now.
I'm a lot more hopeful for the rest of the season now, especially if we can get the players in that we are supposedly chasing.

Fair play to the crowd, it is a lot more enjoyable when you hear them supporting the team.

Tadic looked better on the left. Don’t think I’ve seen that suggested on here <whistle>

Absolutely this. We're still not clinical enough when we create chances, & we're still prone to one costly defensive error per game.
No lack of heart though. A couple of signings could easily save our season - and we're still in the FA Cup.

I thought our two CBs did a good job of pushing Ali or Kane wide every time they threatened, and Son was pretty much kept out the game completely. Romeu was back to his belligerent hard working best too, which helped.

Shame we allowed Kane a free header, but that was pretty much our only serious defensive mistake.

in fairness there was only one team that looked like scoring in the last 20 mins, and it was not Saints. The young lad was unlucky though, we seemed so desperate to get a point the tactics changed and we got pushed back. CBs did well though and a couple of close calls. much improved effort, def does not look like a team that has lost faith in MP2

Great result, and an even better performance. Romeu and JWP were particular stand-outs for me; Hoedt too in the second half.

Even the manager gets credit. Finally, FINALLY, he puts out a good team. Tadic on the left. No Yoshida, No Davis, No Redmond. It only took 24 games, but hey at last. (And before the one or two of you out there say it, no I am not using those players as scapegoats. They are just not good enough, that's the blunt end of it.) With the possible inclusion of Boufal, that XI was arguably our best XI. And then in the match itself, he takes an incredibly bold - bordering on reckless, but I decided to credit him - to bring PEH off for Boufal. For all the world, I thought a like-for-like change in Tadic was the way to go, given how content I was with a point.

I know we didn't win, but for me there is absolutely nothing to be disappointed with today. Very, very happy.

    However...

We followed up the battling display at home to Utd with a defeat to Stoke. We followed up the battling display away to City with a limp draw vs Bmouth. We followed up the Arsenal point with a shocking performance vs Leicester. We followed up the battling display away to Chelsea with a limp draw vs Huddersfield. We followed up the Utd point with a defeat at home to Palace.

We've been here before. Far too many times. Today's point will count for almost nothing if we fail to beat Brighton; particularly if we lose to them. So whilst we can, and should, be very happy today's result, it still isn't a win. And ultimately, could count for nothing in May. We need to finally back it up. Playing like we did today, there is no way we should be getting relegated. But nothing that has happened to date this season suggests that we can replicate today on a regular basis.

The Boufal and Obafemi chances were better than anything they had in the last 20 as far as i can recall. we also had half chances from Prowse and Lemina on target.

Good performance but and this IS the but, I expect this as the minimum from MP. Being the underdog is what he knows and what his tactics are best against. The problem is that these tactics won't work against the other 14 teams in the league because the other 14 teams won't be so attacking as spurs or man city or man Utd or arsenal.

He has to adapt to the fact we are not underdogs against half the league especially at home (of course the irony of that is our league position but most teams still won't attack us at our place).

We were much braver going forward, even late on the second half rather than sitting back, which could be why we got something from the game.

BBC synopsis. Ryan Bertrand named as MOTM. Poch says we won't be long in the relegation zone....bless him. Mauricio described a managerial job as an electric chair....hard to keep seated.

That said, we are quickly running out at home games against those other teams. After Brighton next, there'll only be Stoke and Bmouth left.
