With what they've spent on their squad and the quality of their better players this was always more likely to be an away win, we are where we are and the table doesn't lie. We will probably have three or four more defeats of this type against top half sides but we need to get five wins from our remaining games along with a few draws. The wins are vital as the mad scramble at the bottom always sees even the poorer teams get results when not expected. Still over a week to go before the window closes, I just hope we can bring in a couple of players to strengthen our weakest positions...
Nor do I but logic has to cut in From the local stats looked liked we did ok but if you look at the Boro team sheet very clever set of players add in Pulis and this lot will finish well this year .... I think they will be promoted
As like most on here, didn’t expect anything and didn’t get anything.....they were good and we were just.....not very good. Can’t see us going down now really, but we ain’t out of the mix just yet. As I’m finishing off my umpteen page essay on the heart and cardiovascular system,I’ll also be watching tv tonight waiting for Ian’s rant about myself and many others leaving early and not supporting the team till the end. We’re bastards we are.
I'm somewhat surprised at the lack of vitriol on here after today's performance. I thought that Middlesbrough - apart From Adama Traore, who was superb - were fairly ordinary, whereas we were abysmal. I think that was the worst I have seen this season. Clueless.
Boys 0 Men 3. Usual ineffective wing-back strategy. Usual inability to counter a midfield press. Normal service restored upfront. Bloody cold too - perhaps I'll cheer up when I thaw out.
As someone on here mentioned to me this week, Due to managers wasting money on wasters we have what we have so let's get on with it. I don't want to keep moaning and P'ing everyone off with same old crap about Hollow. However, I still believe the way forward will be with someone else. I saw the goals and followed the game online. Boro sounded like they were really good so I can't complain.
I am genuinely impressed with the knowledge of our opponents shown on here, from some people before the game even started. I know nothing about most teams in our league. I’m obviously not putting the hours in. The only team I thought would do well, through gritted teeth, was Villa on the strength of their spending and the workmanlike approach and experience of their manager. The rest, no idea. Even my lower mid table guess for QPR was mostly a fatalistic one. So Boro are good then, for everyone except Strolls.
We haven’t got any teeth upfront Any of the teams in this league can beat each other ... Boro with Pulis has to be a strong formula. Reckon they will kick on now and grind out results ... still can’t believe that quick lad hasn’t been snapped up yet Fulham look good but they will get turned over by the end of the season. Have to give massive credit to Millwall and Brentford also. Looking forward to Bristol who hopefully will be spent and then Barnsley is the chance to get back on track
Ayala, Traore, Bamford, Friend and Downing were all a division better than us Stroller. ...and yes they were better organised ...but that is Pulis, who is a great manager ( dour) for a certain type of team ....I may have welcomed him 2 years ago...but now we are building a different way and I would not welcome him today Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
My Reading mate said they are toilet and he thinks they are going down. I doubt they will but it's nice to know that others are also worried about form/position.
I thought Boro looked strong all over the pitch, a well coordinated team. We looked a rabble. Agree with Strolls, worst I've seen this season. Smith coming on as a target man seemed to bring promise, but Washington insisted on standing 20 yards off him and scarce knock downs went to waste. If we continue to play this badly, we will go down
absolutely. we were terrible. really poor. Boro weren't that good today i don't think. we weren't carved open, they didn't have bundles of chances, they were better than us yes, but we'd have made anybody look decent today!
I hear we weren’t very good. I can’t say I fancied us looking at the two XIs. Out of interest how did Lynch do? It’s a real bugbear of mine when he gets in over either Baptiste or Hall.
I thought Lynch played quite well, good in the air, and got in one of the only decent crosses I remember all game. He came about the closest to scoring too.
Would you be surprised to know that villa have only spent 2.5 million this season? And recouped around 15million in departures
