Apparently he played a lot under Big Sam? Did you ****. You were eating chicken heads to give you some voodoo and Sam barely played you coz you never, ever looked like you had the minerals for it.

A good read and nice to get the players perspective, a few things stand out for me

'Listen, I'm training three times a day, I feel great. It's the fittest I've ever been, in a weird way, and that's without playing,' he says. It's the best condition I've been in for a long time and hopefully someone will reap the benefits of that.

So if this is the case then Coleman sees something we can’t, maybe it’s attitude ; laziness who knows, whatever it is, if he was fully fit as he states then he would be a starter.

Then he goes on to say hopefully someone will reap the benefit of that” – That statement tells it all; In 76 games we’ve reaped literally nothing; Man City reaped literally nothing. Probably Celtic will reap something (assuming he goes there) as that is probably his level now, at a push.

Then a massive contradiction with the following 2 lines

Some supporters have suggested Rodwell should walk away from Sunderland, freeing them of the financial commitment. That, however, is an unrealistic demand of any person.'I think it's unfair to ask that of a player,' he says.

    Then he says

'Now, for me, it's not about money, it's about playing.

The rest for me is a little delusional about him playing for England again. ... Just go, go now, don't look back... And we should never mention his name again.. Cut him off from the family....

Aye first choice fella with Sam. You know when Kirchhoff and M'Villa played in your position. First name on the sheet every week weren't you?

Glad you did the stats Bri. I was thinking ‘did you ****!’ , then thinking did he?

At least Kirchhoff influences games when he wasn’t ****ed.

ack Rodwell has said that he is prepared to leave Sunderland but will not walk away from the last 18 months of his contract.

The Black Cats offered to tear up his deal over two weeks ago in order to free up room on the wage bill.

Rodwell has not featured under Chris Coleman having suffered from a hamstring injury.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Rodwell also said he would be available for selection if picked by Coleman. He insists, however, that is unfair to expect any player to walk away from a deal.

He said: "I think it's unfair to ask that of a player.

"I haven't put in a transfer request but I understand the club's stance and their position and, because of that, I understand it's beneficial for everyone if I move on.

"But it's not the fault of any footballer if a club decides to pay you a certain amount. I have worked from seven years old to get here; to then ask someone to just throw it away, that's difficult.

"I never wanted this. I joined Sunderland, a great club, to be successful, to feel at home again.

"It hasn't worked out, but that's not through lack of effort.

"Now, for me, it's not about money, it's about playing. If that means moving on to help the club in a situation that suited all parties, I would need no convincing. I'm a footballer, I want a football club.

"Why would I just walk away and be left jobless? The transfer window has two weeks to run and I'm prepared to do anything to play — any decision will be based on the chance to play football, not money."

Rodwell is not thought to have been training with the first team since returning from his niggle but insists criticism of his injury record is unfair and that he is fitter than he 'has ever been'.

He said: "I'm training three times a day, I feel great. It's the fittest I've ever been, in a weird way, and that's without playing.

"It's the best condition I've been in for a long time and hopefully someone will reap the benefits of that. I've not spat my dummy out, I'm getting on with it, trying to turn the situation into a positive.

"This is my hardest spell here but there would be no use in me slacking off or huffing, I need to use this time to get ready for whatever is next. That excites me. I need a new challenge.

"I'm only 26. I feel like I've been in the game for a long time and people can't believe I'm still so young. I've been at Man City and won the league, I've played for England, I've had success and good times, just not enough for someone of my ability.

"Luckily, I'm young enough to change that. It's down to me now, no one else. My hunger is greater than ever, and that's out of pure frustration.

"I want to write off this negative period and go again with some positive momentum."

Well, if he's fit and thinks he's good enough, why isn't knocking on Coleman's door asking to play?

Well if he wants to stay in a job and just wants to play I'm sure that a team from the GM Vauxhall Conference will take him on, at a reduced wage of course. If it's not about the money why can't he take a massive voluntary pay cut?

    Like I’ve said
    Wash our hands of him
Keep him away from the first team
It’s no loss to us anyway
We will get no money for him
    Just pay him his wages.

Just been doing abit of research and since 2012 including when he played for City who he also screwed a living from he has only made 83 appearances. So thats 83 appearances in 6 years, most coming from the bench.
I used to play footy that many times in a month with my mates when i was a kid ffs.

His wages at City will have been similar to what were paying him, add a couple of big signing on fees from his 20m pound worth of transfer money from both clubs, hes laughing all the way to the bank.

We'd only subsidise his wages, let him Rot as Reidy did with Johnson.

ack Rodwell insists he can play for England again - despite being unable to get into the Sunderland team.

Rodwell is looking to leave the Black Cats this month for a fresh start after seeing his career stall at the Stadium of Light since a £10million move from Manchester City three years ago.

Jack Rodwell's Sunderland career has been a disaster

A succession of injuries and a loss of form has seen his stock plummet since the days he made his England debut as a 20-year-old.

Rodwell won three international caps, all as a midfielder, but hasn't played for the Three Lions since 2013.

However, he believes a return to his old position of centre-half could see him return to the Premier League - and the England fold.

"I do believe I'm a Premier League player and I do believe I'm an England international when I'm fit and on form," he told the Daily Mail.

Jack Rodwell still believes he can play for England again
"Whether I have to take a backwards step first to prove that, I'm open to it, if that's what it takes I will do whatever to get back.

"Growing up through the England ranks I was captain and those three senior caps have left me wanting more. I still think it's well within my reach, especially at centre back. I just need a good run where I can really express myself and people say, "Wow, Jack's back".

"It was only when I was fast-tracked into the first team, they put me in midfield, it was a bit safer. I do wonder, "What if?" If I'd just said, "I'm a centre back", where would I be now?

"The game has changed a lot. Centre backs now are ball-playing and a lot of midfielders drop in there. I know the position. I'm big enough, I'm quick enough, I'm good in the air. I've got the tools."

Rodwell previously told former Sunderland manager Simon Grayson that he wanted to be considered as a centre-half, and played a couple of games for the Under-23s in that position.

New manager Chris Coleman has yet to call upon the 26-year-old, however, instead sending him to train with the second string at the Academy of Light while bringing in young Chelsea defender Jake Clarke-Salter on loan.

Sunderland have told Rodwell he is free to find another club this month, as they hope to get the player's £70,000-a-week wage off their books, and the player himself says he is fit and raring to play - either elsewhere or with Sunderland, if selected.

"A lot is made of my injuries and yes, I've had niggles and muscle problems,' he added. "Some managers haven't picked me and my form has played a part at times as well.

"But my availability has been good here, one season it was over 90 per cent. There was a period under Sam (Allardyce) when was I playing regularly and playing well.

"Sadly, Sam left for England. I've never had a career-threatening injury and I'm always looking for new ways to prevent those niggles. Touch wood, that seems to be working right now."

Surely there’s a middle ground, million or 2 pay off.

Yes it’s dead money but it’s still better than the lad sitting for 18 months.

No club is gonna take a punt, he’s the kind big Sam would have taken and got back playing but Everton are too big a club for him to do that now. He has shown he hasn’t the stomach or fight for the battle so that rules out all of the Championship and Premier League.

He could go to Scotland and rebuild, but he’s not good enough for Celtic and his salary too high for Rangers.

Even as a free agent, who’s gonna give him a deal? We are stuck with him so I disagree with shunting him with the reserves.

He's on 70 grand a week for no other reason than he has a contract. And a pulse.

He's going nowhere. Why should he? He knows he'll not get the same elsewhere. And he's only 26. 28 when his contract ends. This contract settles his and his kids futures.

Anyone on here willing to take a massive pay cut when there's no obligation to?

Right and wrong, fair / unfair, doesn't come into it. He'll be lucky to get 30 grand next time round. He's high risk and high maintenance

So I don't blame the incredibly delusional lad. I blame the ****ing idiot at the club who signed the contract. No one else is really to blame for this situation.
