I’m up for the gamble, I really am. Would certainly provide an immediate lift and make going to St Mary’s fun again. For about two games.
The only thing swaying me is that it may only take a few wins to be safe with the way the league is panning out. Keeping PL status could cover any losses if he (or similar) proved to be an expensive mistake next season.
I believe I read that Nice can’t really afford to keep him next season.Whether that’s at his current wage or his new contract demands idk. Their president said in an interview in December that they wouldn’t sell Mario in January, but it’s that awkward decision for them. I know Nice have had an up and down season, but without checking I’m not sure if they can still realistically qualify for the champions league. If they have nothing much to play for this season then they maybe tempted to cash in.
I just don't see it as a gamble. I don't see it happening but if it did I would place it firmly in the "Great business" column rather than the "Bit of a gamble" column. I mean come on. It's Mario feckin Balotelli!
Balotelli is a brilliant rumour mate. Gifted, controversial, a bit mental. Exactly the sort or rumour we need to get stir things up around here. There's actually more chance of me getting hit by a space rocket than there is of Balotelli signing for Saints, but that just makes the rumour all the sweeter imo.
