    1) £35 million was too good to turn down so the club may well have told him to leave, but he didn't have to go.

    2) Nolan may well not have had a long-term future at the club as we have brought in Cabaye and Pardew has said that HBA is going to be playing just off the main striker. Nolan probably only has a couple of good years left in him so a 5 year contract at £55k per week (this is what he got at WHU) is madness.

    3) Obviously Ashley wants Barton out after he public slagged him on several occasions.

    He was quoted as saying it in the media shortly after the move.

    Edit: Might have been his agent that said it - Can't remember now.
