What would you have done today then? We had no answer to Deeney and Okaka, we don't have the personnel.
The thing is, pellegrino hasn’t lost the dressing room. They were all putting in the effort today. We just don’t have the players. Lemina has to start from now on though. He’s a class above.
Not saying they are exempt they have no fight which is worrying in itself, but like you say it will 'start' with the manager which was my point... It's coming from him.
We don't have an answer to Deeney and Okaka in the air, which is why we shouldn't have dropped so deep: once it became a game of crosses going into our box that we were hopeless to win, we were always going to give up goals. That's why we really ought to have tried to stay on the front foot, to prevent the whole of the match being played in and around our box.
So if its the mentality of the players that is the issue, isn't it the Manager's job to change that and in still belief in them? Also saying we don't have the personnel to deal with big strikers, Yoshida and Stephens did ok for half the season last year. Everton also do alright with Kenny, Holgate, Jagielka and Martina as their back four. Individual players help, but it's the tactical side of the game that is sorely lacking at the end of the day.
Not about today in fairness, the work with the psychology of the players is from day one. I wouldn’t have started SD in all honesty, and would have pushed the team up in the second half rather than back. Okaka and Deeney aren’t going to outpace you behind the lines so they can win aerial battles further up the field to a lesser effect. I’d have actually been tempted to go for the jugular with a high line, high press midfield to cut the supply at source.
The club hasn’t lost the players. They’re putting in effort but being appallingly mismanaged. We do have the players. Not to do anything great, but to be comfortably safe. I’d be far more concerned by not replacing the manager than not signing anyone this window.
Hey everyone, MP2 says we should have two new players next week. These things come in threes so now we all need to cross our fingers and hope for a new manager next week too.
Come on then Brendy... who else do you blame? So far you’ve only blamed the manager. I get accused of not letting people have an opinion (often by you) yet here I am putting a view to you and you don’t want to entertain a thought that could mean more than the manager at fault. I agree he’s not good enough, but just trying to put some balance to your rant.
Defending a one goal lead away from home, do you honestly think Watford would allow us to see the game out and control the game? They had their tails up from an individual error gifting them a goal.
Agreed, a competant Manager would've got the result today and several more throughout this season. we are just wasting precious time now waiting for things to turn around for Pellegrino.
