Read a rather interesting article on the issue of the gay gene. A concept that came about 15 -20 years ago and is peddled today by homosexuals as 'scientific evidence' The first person to suggest it was genetic was Dean Hammer. He himself was gay and his study was based on 40 homosexuals George Rice repeated the study with 52 homosexuals and said there was no evidence it was genetic Hammer tried to dispute this Dr Allan Sanders, from the same institute as Hammer, did a study and presented his findings on 1st June 1998 in Toronto and proved, without a doubt that it ws NOT genetic Bailey and Pillard did a study on twins and asserted that twins being gay is a sign of genetics, what they failed to report was that the trait was the same in biological brothers as it was in adopted brothers actually proving that it was environment Thiw was all started by a simon Levay who asserted it was 'brain difference' what people didnt know was that all 19 of his 'subjects' had aids, which is the most likely reason for their brains decreased clusters despite all this why do people think it is genetic?
I hate to ask what seems like the obvious question but..... If homosexuality is genetically passed, how does it pass on and perpetuate given that gay people are highly unlikely to procreate? Sorry to seem obvious...
they tried to argue that it was passed through the mother, in one of the above studies also interesting is that there is a 66% 'cure' rate in a study, but as homosexuality was taken off the mental health list the study is not able to get credibility. something like that anyway
Even it was 'curable' who really cares, not very many gay people see it as a disease and the few gay people who do see it as a disease probably have much bigger mental issues <notmindingmykids>. The gays are a proud and industrious people, they contribute much to society. Where would the performing arts, or Arsenal's 'invincibles' squad of 2003 have been without the contribution of gay people?
Life isn't planned or designed - look at the Duck-Billed platypus, or a rangers fan. Sometime's biology, environment, circumstances have an affect on the species of this planet. Just be thankful that humans don't have the ability to procreate on their own. p.s I don't mind ****s, as long as they keep it to themselves.
It's really not that difficult to understand. Genetics provides only part of the answer, there is no on/off switch here, simply a set of genes that can leave someone to be more or less disposed to hetero/homo preferences. The rest does come from environmental influences and in some cases yes simple choice. It is perfectly possible for someone to have a genetic makeup that makes it highly probable for them to be gay yet end up hetero and vice versa. Outside simple thing like eye colour genetics is rarely black and white, someone can be predisposed to type 2 diabetes but never suffer from it with the right lifestyle and be absolutely non-disposed but stiff suffer the effects with a poor one; psychopaths tend to have to have the right combination of genetic tendencies (paranoia, obsessiveness) and social factors.
So, like most stuff, it's neither entirely nature or nurture, but a mixture of genetics and environment. However, the point still stands, wouldn't it diminish over time (like recessive genes in theory in a varied populace)? If 50% of people pre-disposed to being gay in one generation become gay, a maximum of 50% will re-produce and so on and so on until the gene gets rarer and rarer. Is this the case or is this over-simplification? Although, a greater %age of the populace now claim to be gay than ever before, wouldn't that mean that most early homo-sapiens were pre-disposed to boaby lust?
I'm not sure it's environmental in terms of upbringing, for instance I knew a kid who we all made fun of for being a huge fruit cake when I was in P3 (I remember P3 as we were all in a certain yard reserved for that year when I was taking the piss out of him). Via a stint being a Team GB gymnast he now works as a drag queen in a local gay bar. Everyone could see how he was going to turn out when he was about 7 years old so it couldn't have been a consensual choice, or the way he was brought up since he came from a pretty rough family with 4 brothers who are not gay. My best guess is that it happens during development in the womb, when gender is supposed to be decided something goes slightly wrong where brain development doesn't match the derived sex. Genetics are pretty much out of the question since gay people don't necessarily have gay kids and the same with straight people.
