Coquelin, Walcott and Sanchez leaving... You'd think we have to sign some replacements surely? The main player we are linked with seems to be Malcom.. can't say I've ever heard of him before.
Don't think we'll sign a replacement for Coquelin. Wenger said he sold him because he's not getting enough games. He'll use Xhaka, Ramsey, Elneny, Wilshere and Maitland-Niles in there instead. Would have thought we'll sign an attacking player though. Simply can't leave a gap as big as Sanchez will leave.
I think it will be a good move for him. It's a pity he didn't make it as well as he should have done with Arsenal. He comes across as too 'nice' sometimes. If he goes, I wish him well. I'll always remember his 'nice' 2-0 gesture to the spuds as he was carried off during that cup match.
Yeah I don't think Coquelin will be replaced. Though i do think we need a new CM. We surely have to get an attacking player though!
Lets face it, both Coquelin and walcott were dead wood, both were not getting any game time and would only be used in an injury crisis. Getting close to 50 million for the two is good business, and clears some wages as well. Not sure if we will get anyone in this window, more likely to be summer, lets face it good players rarely move in Jan, the only reason sanchez will be leaving is because of his contract situation.
Would any of you take the rumoured swap deal involved mkhitaryan and Sanchez? Some rumors swirling around that we are asking for martial in return, cannot see that happening.
Yes to Martial, no to Mkhitariyan. But this is academic anyway as it's pretty clear Sanchez doesn't want to go to United.
Not keen on Mkhitarian but I'd take Martial in an instant. Can't see that happening in a million years though. I just hope we sell Sanchez to PSG or Bayern. I will be absolutely seething if we sell him to Utd. Still haven't forgiven Arsenal for selling RVP to them. Seeing Sanchez in a Utd shirt would be unforgivable imo.
Walcott has been drifting at Arsenal for so long it’s unreal, he is one of our highest earners as well, along with the manager, need to get rid of people like Walcott, the guy is just happy to tag along and do **** all.
Soo looks like Chelsea have enquired about Sanchez also now. What a ****ing joke. How does our club let a player like Sanchez wind down his contract like this. United, City and Chelsea all seem to be willing to offer Sanchez the kind of money he is after.
I understand your frustration with this but feel you are letting rags get the better of you. At least 2 of the links makes no sense, Jose always prefers a big target man (if used as a striker, Martial and Rashford as LF), Pep has a better version of Sanchez with Aguero (again if used as a striker, Sane as LF), not sure about Conte but if he wanted to use him out left (LF) like you do then Hazard and him would get in each others way.
The rumoured clubs that are reported to be interested in him are City, United, possibly Chelsea, Juventus, back to Barcelona, as well as tenuous links with Real Madrid. When you consider the fact he's already played in Italy and Spain previously, and he seems to enjoy the Premier League, that then narrows it down to Chelsea, City and United. Chelsea's board don't appear to be proactive in signing players that Conte wants for whatever reason, so I highly doubt they would be able to land Sanchez. Plus, I don't see where he fits into their team. So then we have City and United. Whilst he could go to United (history, mega money, Champions League side etc), most reliable sources are claiming he would prefer to go to Man City. Understandably so too when you think about it. Stability, clear progress, competitive on all fronts, good infrastructure, great style of play, managed by a man who he values and knows, bigger wages. If I were a betting man (and I'm not!), I'd bet almost everything I own on him preferring Man City over any of the aforementioned clubs.
Sanchez is turning 30. Maybe we shouldn't be that upset he is moving on? I understand the situation is a complete shambles but realistically how many more great years could he have given us? As for the money, would we really have spent it had we got it? Idk trying to put a spin on things to make myself believe we aren't a mess as a club right now.
Yep you're probably right. I just hope he doesn't go to Utd. I will be ****ing livid if that happens, seeing Mourinho's smug ****ing face knowing he's got one over on us. And especially given the RVP debacle, it would be unforgivable imo. I know the club want some money for him before he goes on a free, but selling him to Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea would be stupid, City less so because they are streets ahead and going to win the league anyway, but to one of the others could cost us a place in the top 4. Best case scenario is that we sell him abroad, but I think he'll either go to City now for around £25m or he'll stay with us until the summer and then go on a free to City.
I think we're offering him similar money, but clearly he wants out. But I agree about the situation, what a ****ing joke. How did we allow this situation to arise ? When all of the other top teams are strengthening, we are losing our best player for ****ing peanuts, and possibly nothing.
I also don't think he will be replaced but not because of game time. Because he (and Walcott) both have good salary. And wenger said it himself, the only way we can compete with big clubs and their salary is by offering more weekly wages. In order to do so, we need a smaller team. Similiae amount of money spent but on less people mean we can offer them more. Like for ozil.
