I have checked all past winning bets and all have been settled on BOG

Just to clarify (not that it needs clarification, I'm sure), BOG in this comp means Better Odds Guaranteed, not Best Odds Guaranteed (ie the better of the odds taken with the bet and the SP)

I might have to think about how I administer this comp <laugh>

The Saturday League comp takes a few minutes a week (ie from recording all the entries through to producing the League Table). That's because I import all the runners and it's fully automated. With this comp, due to it's nature, I didn't expect there to be so many bets, so importing runners everyday seemed OTT. The consequences are that, having been out all day, and only having internet at my daughter's for a while, there will be a delay in producing the League Table. Sorry about that. I'll continue on the same basis for a while because, at this rate there may not be many left in soon <whistle>
Got it well sussed now. Only problem now is I only have internet access when I'm at Amanda's. Temporary problem though and it's easy enough to catch up with any missed bets. Will post the tables after the last race tonight.

Tomorrow - Voice Of Dubai (Newcastle 19.45) is available at 9/1 in 3 places. Have to have a small dabble. £20ew at 9/1

I dipped my toe in the water today having found a likely sort at Clonmel @ 9/1. Was smug as fook when checking the odds this morning over brekkie to see it's price had contracted to 5/2. Got home tonight and Clonmel abandoned after the preceding race. Bollox. That was probably my high water mark <laugh>.

Any views on the elimination rule?

Maybe instead of elimination:
(a) just allow bets to continue. Effectively, each bet is funded by a loan and the profit is what would be available if the accumulated loan was re-paid in full, or

(b) betting could be suspended until the start of a new month when another £1,000 is allocated. The only purpose of allocating another £1,000 would be to control that the loss in any month is restricted to £1,000

Either would allow everyone to be involved throughout the year. It gives them a chance to get back in profit or get deeper in debt. Could be educational?

You are the one having to administer it Ron - clearly there are those who are already out coughchelseacough and it would allow those to clamber back on board.

I think I'd be in favour of plan B assuming of course that one month's £!000 loss is taken away from any future profits!

I dunno about educational though, unless it teaches people to be reckless :D

Dark Alliance - Lingfield 13.20 10/11 with just the one bookie (PP) so will take the 4/5 generally available. £150 win at 4/5

You have a bit of a problem there mate. I like the idea of the whole exercise, it gives us a chance to see who's got decent ideas about the punt. Some will have fewer but heavier bets, while others will graft away almost on a daily basis, with smaller hits. Being an old time comp runner, I wanted regular numbers of contestants. The fact that you have smashed it so far says that you've stumbled onto something pretty special. One way or the other, the eliminated have to be brought back in, but the ultimate risk, is the player who will in the end just lob the lot on each time he/she re-enters. The real danger is that the whole thing could disintegrate into an all in **** fight. Sort of like the card game 500. When Open Misare is allowed, the game starts off ok, but in the end, every second hand dealt ends with a Misare call.

Anyway Ron, the amount of stats you've provided is amazing. You're doing a wonderful job. Big pat on the back. Thanks for the effort put in.

For what it's worth my view would be to leave it as it is. Once you're out you're out. I think either of the other options would water down the competition somewhat. But ultimately it's up to you Ron it's your comp.
