Wouldn’t begrudge him a move. He is 30 and deserves a crack at a higher level - which he won’t get with us until the 19/20 season at the earliest.
Holmes has been poor for a while now. He looks like he doesn't want to be here and who can blame him.
Predictable. He's unlikely to be with us much longer, good luck to him. He'd be mad not to accept a move to higher level.
Made a good start to the season. Wonder goal at Oldham. But as you say, dipped big time in recent months.
If selling Holmes and three or four other first team regulars will make RD more likely to agree a takeover, then good luck to him. We have almost done enough already to avoid relegation, so I'm not bothered really who he sells, as long as he then sells the Club.
Mind you, that may affect the value of the club - 55 million with the current squad as RD looks to recover te costs of his mismanagement, and very probably the same Price tag without Konsa and Holmes. Would you buy a used car if the seller took all the wheels off between payment and delivery?
If Ricky Holmes wants out there's no point hanging on to him. I've never critcised his energy and commitment, he has been the engine of our team. But I can't deny his influence has faded. Without him we are going nowhere - particularly not back into a play-off place. But if he wants to go, we won't go anywhere with him in the team either. This could be his last chance to do better than knock his pan out for a Club with no heartbeat.
As @DonCorleone said, nobody would blame Holmes for wanting out of this circus. Long term admirer Chris Wilder is Holmes’ last shot at higher level football, he certainly isn’t going to get it with us.
My uncle used to take 2 bricks to the football to stand on, in the days of the terracing. Not to be recommended nowadays.
Agreed, it could scupper any potential deal, and it won't make the new owners look good if caveats haven't been put in place to stop RD pillaging the Club.
Thanks and good riddance ....decent player if he now wants out just go consign him to the depths of the worst time in our recent history
The Manager said he only wanted players who wanted to be at the Club.... so why would he want to keep a player who wants out?
If he was only left with players who genuinely wanted to stay, we'd be playing in a five a side league...
