Precisely because he's more of a playmaker. When Eriksen is having one of his off days we do seem bereft of ideas. Another playmaker, winger and striker are priorities. However, I don't know enough about Seri to say he's the one we need. Whereas Dembele (Celtic) and Sessegnon are 2 players we should have already signed. I seem to remember that we could have got Dembele for £6 million a couple of seasons ago and we seem to be making the same mistake with Sessegnon.
It was £5m. The ink had even dried on the paper before we pulled the plug because we didn't want to loan him back to Fulham for the rest of the season. The bigger question is why we didn't sign him for free that summer (free minus compensation for development etc.). I still cannot work out what changed between January and May that made us change our minds and let him go to Celtic. Him for free or Janssen for £17m? Hindsight, like karma, is one hell of a bitch. Sessegnon is slightly trickier as we first sniffed around when he was only 16 and literally 3 months beyond his Fulham debut. I think the club was right to wait it out but by the time we circled back for a look he'd signed his first senior contract which effectively quadrupled his value to £25m. Is he worth that? Not at all - it's all potential. He certainly looks far too talented for the Championship but then again so did Pritchard, Townsend and Naughton. As solid as the Champ is there is still a yawning chasm from there to the PL top 6...and Fulham aren't even a top Champ side. £25m is the sort of money United and Chelsea will have a flutter on. Not us. Which is why I am slowly resigning myself to the possibility that next season United will have Rose and Sessegnon down their left flank and we'll have Luke ****ing Shaw.
Sort of a hybrid of Dembele and Kante, as he's a box-to-box playmaker (if that makes any sense) There's three main reasons i.) We've needed a player who can dictate play from central midfield ever since Modric left, and Seri would be that player ii.) Having an additional player who can create would reduce our reliance on Eriksen to create everything iii.) We clearly need a player who can replace Dembele and Sissoko clearly is not it - but Seri may well be
Random Barca Starlet Watch Because we can't be linked with enough wingers (apparently...) the next one on the conveyor belt in Jose Arnaiz, even though he only signed for Barca in the summer. What makes this rumour seem even more unlikely is that there's plenty of reports saying he's a humble, down-to-earth guy and he's committed to proving himself at Barca B - so why he's suddenly demanding a move makes little sense, unless he was promised an opportunity due to the Ousmane Dembele-shaped hole in the team that he can occupy.
What does this look like on tv? Cos here it looks ****e... And if you mo fos are moaning just remember that it is worse here...it is fecking freezing . Kane and Llorente bring out the worst in each other Lamela is doing very good impression of Sissoko who is doing a great impression of Rasiak.
Don't know who you're talking about He's both in a way mate. Smaller than Mousa but drifts around really nicely and doesn't get muscled off, does a lot of Alli-esque flicks when playing one-twos and drives back and forth like an old school Yaya or Kante type. Gets assists and the odd goal too, which is more than any of our CMs offer. Playing in Ligue 1 isn't always the best of representations as to whether a player could make it here (as we all know with two certain wingers!) but Seri looks incredibly like a player we'd benefit from. Barca also felt he was a great player too, ultimately they pulled the plug on the deal on the 11th hour (to then sign Paulinho) but his talent is clearly good enough to attract the best clubs. Seeing as I really feel CM is the position we need to strengthen most, Seri for me is the person I'd love us to sign. Having Aurier here will also be good for him, what with being an Ivory Coast international, plus the other French and French-speaking lads.
Rumours of a move for Andre Gomes are resurfacing once again. Let me just check if Jorge Mendes is still his agent...yes, Jorge Mendes is still his agent. Steer well clear until this aberration is fixed. Meanwhile, we're being linked with Coventry midfielder Tom Bayliss after his performance against Stoke in the FA Cup.
I think your putting Luke Shaw down a bit there mate. If he can stay fit Luke Shaw is a fantastic player. I wouldnt be suprised if United dont come in for Rose and keep faith with him.
Sessegnon Can't see Luke Shaw having a future at Utd if he is signed. As good as I think Shaw could be, I don't think Mourinho rates him so he's only likely be be in plans if needs must.
**** knows what he's doing here anyway...pathetic signing that replaced another pathetic signing. Someone needs the sack at Spurs
Good. There's just no point in him being at Spurs. He's gone backwards and is a million miles away from the first team. Looking at recent 'mid-range' foreign league punts that we've taken - GKN, Clinton N'Jie, Vinnie and Big Kev, things haven't gone so well. Bigger money purchases like Sonny and Davinson Sanchez have been excellent and Serge Aurier definitely has the talent and is improving. I guess it's pretty unlikely that there are many young, unknown bargains that can make the jump up to Top 6 in the PL. I hope that Juan Foyth might make it but he's got a long way to go looking at Sunday's game. He's pretty lightweight and still very green. I think a loan next season would be best for him.
