I never gave up on PEH. I think he was unfairly criticised by a few fans.

It might be falling on yours. I'm just fed up being surrounded by dickheads every time I go to a game, and having the atmosphere poisoned by spoilt, entitled glory hunters who really should just go and follow Chelsea. Tbf, it's a lot worse at St Mary's than it was yesterday, but the constant negativity from a small but vocal minority during games is really grating.

There is a Southampton psyche which says everything is crap. The City is crap, the Students are crap, the docks are crap you name it and they will moan about it.

A good example is the Daily Echo site = http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/15812002.Fulham_0_1_Southampton__Pellegrino_defiant/

How a thread can be completely ruined, personal abuse, threats, rule breaking and being taken over by two or three posters (it's hard to tell how many with the multiple sign-ons allowed) that make it impossible to have a reasonable debate. 21st Century? You can keep it.

One thing noticeable on Twitter today is more people are criticizing the behaviour of the minority of those that were booing and behaving unfairly and are asking them to support the team more.

Just seen the replay of our goal, that ball from Maya to SD was a bit special, it set the move up for the goal.

So I see it differently than you and the other hyper optimistic posters so I must have a sad life. I have a great life with great friends and a wonderful family, thanks for asking. Telling some one to STFU after they posts their opinion on the game that continued to show the many issues we still have, is real classy. Yeah we won, maybe we can win the FA Cup, Pompey did it, how did that work out for them.

Yes, but it is peculiarly prominant in Southampton. Many Sotonians see their city as boring, and it isn't without foundation. There's not a great deal of vivacity in the city. It simply looks and feels a bit bland. When I first saw the towers going up in Portsmouth I wondered if that might make a statement, and it subsequently has. If you view each city's skyline from ships and boats, without prejudice, it looks as though Portsmouth is a thrusting progressive city with an enthusiasm for its history. In contrast, the most prominant sight in Southampton from the water are the grain silos and the Ikea building. That kind of reflects the general flavour of the our place. It's a bit boring. And the best thing that can be said about Southampton is that we have pretty much the best weather in the UK and we are brilliantly linked to loads of interesting places and areas. Though the most naysaying of Sotonians won't recognise even that much.

I am no longer hyper-optimistic or even optimistic....I am more in a stunned coma with a small flame of hope (based on 3 crapper sides being discovered), but I can still enjoy a win as a nice change because I know I'd feel worse if we lost. I am not suicidal because I know that just as a few good seasons doesn't mean it will go on for ever, a couple of bad ones doesn't mean that will prevail either. However, survival this season is essential with major changes next season....just look at Sunderland, all those people who want to enjoy more success in the Championship.

Other than scoring goals, our biggest problem, IMO, is game management.
MP becomes too defensive, too early in a game, and generally takes off our most gifted players, in regards to ball retention, which then prevents us from retaining possession of the ball.
If we are defending a lead, I would rather have Tadic or Boufal as our lone striker, than Long or Gabbiadini, simply because of their ability to hold on to the ball for long enough time to enable our defence to reorganise.
I think we would also see fewer errors at the back as a result of them having more time to set themselves up. At the moment, our inability to keep the ball away from the opposition means our defence becomes under constant pressure, which inevitably leads to goal opportunities.
Yesterday I would have left Boufal on, but once the decision was made to replace him, I think it should have been Tadic coming on.

I am convinced that PEH was subbed after being clattered by our GK, but Lemina was the right one to replace him at the time. I agree Tadic should have been the one to replace Boufal, Redmond seems to have an obligation contractual clause that he must be played. Gab for Long could have been done earlier, Gab never had time to get up to speed, hence the snatched chance that landed in row Z.

Wow. Just read through and surprised at the reaction on here. Yes, it wasn't a great game and it won't live long in the memory but we came through a tricky looking cup tie with upset written all over it.

Yes we know we are a bit **** at the moment, and yes most of us do want the manager out as he seems out of his depth but some of the responses on here are laughable.

It's a nice distraction from the league and who knows where it will take us?

The winner of Palace/Brighton away would be nice.

    Edit - Or Yeovil!!
