The thing is, people do need an outlet for their frustration, and many will think that's the best way of getting their dissatisfaction across. I disagree with it on principle, but it doesn't mean I don't understand it (but still dislike it).
1996 or 97.... that was the year we stayed up because of Boro’s deducted 3 points when they cancelled a game due to players having flu.
Agree, in general it was great. Disappointing number of pissed up ****ers (four to six lads, 20s maybe 30s) at the back of the central blocks giving Redmond some racist abuse, sadly. It got drowned out pretty quickly.
The support was vociferous, but not always positive. The problem is that negativity spreads. A group of lads behind me tried to get a "sacked in the morning" chant going before a ball was kicked, but though better of it. But you you can bet they just loved it, and joined in lustily, when the "you don't know what you're doing" chants sparked up around the stand. But if negativity spreads - and it really does - then maybe, just maybe, positivity could spread as well.
Seems a bit dumb to sing 'you don't know what you're doing' while we are actually winning a game. Also, didn't everyone give up on Hjobjerg last season? Pellegrino gets him back in the team and playing well, and yet he's still criticised on how he uses the player. Mad irony there. Anyway, when i get criticised for something, usually it makes me want to work harder and prove people wrong. Hopefully Pellegrino will be the same.
Agreed, PeH has come on leaps and bounds this year.. Sadly others have regressed, Redmond, Long and Tadic.. Still, I'm hoping they knuckle down and prove me wrong..
Happy for Beddi to get a chance....we can hardly blame him for our position, but anyone have a view on how he did?
Nothing unique about saints fans mate. You get w*nkers at every club across the planet. Shame but that's always gonna be the case
Agreed. Looked quite comfortable and had a few decent moments. Once or twice his inexperience did show but overall I liked what I saw.
You would rather rate our squad as championship material than let someone say our manager is clueless, but when someone says a certain player from that group of championship level talent isn't very good (for example Redmond) you also won't have that. like you're talking in 1984's doublespeak
Three reasons: 1. Aspirations have risen because we have had more success and the Board have also been promoting this idea (until recently) 2. People didn't mind if we looked like we were giving it our all, however our squad has a lot more quality these days and therefore more is expected 3. People expect immediate gratification these days
