Another possibility that interests me is Alexander Nouri. He made Werder Bremen look really rather good last year, before getting sacked after an awful start. Plays kids, seems to be flexible tactically. Managed to lead them to the brink of a European place despite surrendering more goals than any team in Germany, because they were one of the highest-scoring outfits in the league. Serious gamble, but I'd take that over what we currently have.

Everyone is a gamble to some extent, but yes, I can’t imagine there are many worse options than the current.

Peter Bosz would come too. There’s plenty there.

Should also note that Werder Bremen always surrenders a lot of goals. The novel bit was scoring some, too.

I’ll tell you why @SotonOldBoy ... because it’s ridiculous. Let’s just enjoy a win for a few moments before we launch into the negative stuff. We haven’t won a game for ages, so let’s enjoy it.

I’m not sticking up for the manager. I think he’s out of his depth and said so, but if we can’t be allowed to enjoy a win for more than 10 minutes after kick off, then I want those fans to **** off and do something else.

Take the moment for what it is and then get back to the moaning as we don’t sign the right players, lose the next game. Say the wrong things in an interview.

Seriously some people are so negative they must have terribly sad lives. We won a game of football.

Normally I’d agree Fats, and as I said, I’m delighted we’re in the hat. It’s not for me ‘negativity’ to discuss this though, particularly as the same problems were so evident. It’s just the most pressing thing about the club we all love right now.

If we’d won with a great new style of aggressive, attacking football, it would have been easy to enjoy the win, without feeling still clouded by the matters at hand. But it wasn’t.

I think we are all agreed MP will not be saints manager next season. It's whether he goes now or in the summer and would it be too late then?

I honestly feel we would have better pickings in the summer on a clean slate. But only if we are still a premier league team. If we can get a quality manager in now, I would be all for it.

Well said. I just came on here and thought I'd got it wrong and we had lost. Things aren't great but for goodness sake can't we enjoy a win just for the rest of the day. <steam>

Sure, it would be preferable to do so in the summer, no doubt, but that feels like a far bigger gamble than getting someone new in now.

So what you are saying is “let’s not enjoy the win for a few minutes” and let’s start whinging straight away?

Not like you Laces. I’m not saying it’s great as you know, I’m just saying for people to launch straight in as Tom did is ridiculously negative and .... very sad indeed.

9 games without a win and then we win. Let’s put the pitch forks down tonight and pick them up again tomorrrow.

Were we sitting on 24 points now, I'd suggest that we start working the market now and sack him in the summer. We're not, though: we have 4 points in 9 matches, and we're level on points with 18th. We also have one of the hardest schedules of any team because of our split of home/road matches. We gotta move now...even waiting until the end of January might be too late, not least because we'll no longer be able to dangle the possibility of the next manager having some input in the squad.

I’m fact. Let’s wait until after the Cup draw Monday.

Tom’s actual comment was “why bother?” When referring to the draw, Well, because I’m a Saints fan and we are in the draw.

    Let’s give up now.

Let’s declare relegation and withdraw from the Cup if MP isn’t sacked before the draw.

Hmm...okay, maybe I’m in the wrong here and we should enjoy it for the moment, scrappy and unconvincing though it was.

I think it’s actually because I and many care so much that the frustration brings out this negativity (particularly when things are so glaringly obvious). Apologies, I’ll shut it for the moment.

This is Les Reed we are talking about though. Probably entice Gary Megson with a war chest of a fiver

I’m with you Laces, but do you agree with Tom’s, “what’s the point of being in the draw as we’ll only go out next round” ?? (Or similar words)

I am Also frustrated and care as much as all the others and I’ve been more negative than I ever have been on the forum.. it was the give up on the Cup point I took exception to, minutes after the final whistle.

The way i think of it is that we will get a few new players in and that might provide a boost and an upturn in a form. if that doesn't happen or fades then we still have the option to get another boost from sacking the manager. Doing both at the same time seems to waste one of those to my way of thinking.

Have to agree FLT, was a tricky banana skin cup tie away and we won for the first time for ages.

It's not going to mask on and off field issues. The confidence this could give the team could be invaljuable. For now it's a game at a time and I'm enjoying this time.

Edit, sorry replied to the wrong post.

The people making the decisions have far more to lose than us. So should we now just get to the stage where we get behind their decision. They have backed him to stay, and by not acting after Palace they have missed the window to replace.
Even saying that does not feel right to me. I really don't know.
