I'm softening it quite a bit as the programme is usually 8 weeks at 600 cals per day.

My carbohydrate intake is currently 30-50g per day and I have never looked at calorie intake before now as that isn't a consideration on the LCHF diet. I have a feeling that cutting the butter, cream and other fats alone will pretty much take me under 1000 cals per day. My only concern is how much the hunger pangs will grow as the fat content of my food reduces.

Well good luck to you, I know I personally couldn't do that for any length of time at all. Just did a quick google of the Newcastle diet and I can see why you want to give it a go if you're diabetic. With the hunger you will get over it pretty quickly as your body adjusts, but yeah the first few days might be painful.

Indeed. The first week on the LCHF diet was bad. Dropping the carbs caused flu like symptoms of the worst kind, but once adjusted, the feeling of well being was excellent.

Hopefully this Newcastle Diet will tidy up the pancreas a bit and I'll live forever. <laugh>

I used to know boxers who did a 6 week plan to cut up for fights, and current research shows that type 2 diabetes could be reversed, if caught early with it, as it cuts fat on the organs as well as losing weight

Basically it is the high protein low carb died but you eat every 3 hours with a cut off point in the evening.

You can eat eggs, broccoli cauliflower, spinach etc and meat. Done with at least 40 minutes exercise it can shed loads of weight and fat of internal organs

Only thing is you need to ease back on the carbs after, although you could do this long term but being less strict

I've done **** all so far this year. Still waiting for my mate to sort out my swim membership, the weather has been ****ing diabolical so haven't been able to get out surfing or on the bike. Still snacking on the left over chocolates from christmas too ...

Will make a more concerted effort starting over the next week or two.

I'm a sucker for doing a massive cardio workout, burning something like 1500 calories and then 'rewarding' myself with a **** off cheesy pizza ...

Well I’ve managed not to go to the pub tonight..

    #winning

In other news I’ve made the mrs’s Kids take part in a sock amnesty to pass the time whilst I wait for the wine to kick in.

Thus far I’ve found all my missing golf socks bar one odd pair.

    #sockgate

    Exciting times.

That’s what many who exercise to lose weight don’t understand. If you’re gonna work your body, it needs carbs.

    No carbs - no energy.

Yeah, you need carbs after a workout. But there's better options than white flour and loads of cheese <laugh>

I don't do this often to be fair, but sometimes I get caught short after a long surf and just grab something quick and easy which tends to involve loads of bread !

According to myfitnesspal 18 holes of golf burns 1300 calories. I like to reward myself with three pints straight after then a further 6 in the local to either celebrate playing well or more often than not to try and forget about the round.

Nah. It's more than that. Maybe not many more, but more than that.

But it's also good aerobics. And stress releasing as well. Even after the shanks and hooks.

Let's just ignore the 9 pints though <laugh>

Friend of mine has one of those fitness watches that measure steps and heart rate. My course isn’t particularly long or hilly. Only three seriously uphill holes. His watch reckons with a push trolley he burns 1800 calories.

You can not out-train a bad diet.

You can train hard or you can train long, you can not do both.

Stick to those two bits of advice and you'll get anywhere you want to get to.

Tel I may at some point this evening take a photo of my gym in the cellar and request a plan from you for me to do on it if that’s ok.

I hate gyms so bought a multi gym.
