We are riding along on the crest of a wave right now and I wonder what you all think about possible new recruits to bolster our chances of being in with a fighting chance at the end of the season? The football we are playing is delightful to watch and yet I have a feeling that we will possibly see some action coming up in the transfer window, which begs the question as to what do we need? I always think of this window as being somewhat over priced, so do you think Lee has been pro-active and already lined up his ducks. The transformation, if you can really call it that, leads me to believe that we have finally found the secret of doing things right, and if that is the case then it will leave us in good stead. Does anyone think there will be departures in all the excitement?
As others have said elsewhere on other threads, I think a proven striker (don't ask me who!) is necessary and might prove to be the magic ingredient, even if only on loan. I just hope we've learned our lessons from the last time we were in this position and only bought average players in.
Do any of you think that our recent successes have given us enough of a higher profile to make us a destination of choice for some future stars? When you think about it how many City players, or loanees, have gone on to bigger and better things in the last 10 years? Perhaps we may see some shock arrivals that have floated under the radar of the pundits which could include some who need to get competitive playing time to put the cutting edge on their game. A goal scorer who could add tallies to our already diversified score sheet and that begs me to ask what's the future for Diedhiou longer term?
I think the club is at last raising its profile Mike after a decade or more of (lets be kind here) mismanagement and massive mistakes being made on and off the pitch. Getting to the LC Semi Final again (for the 3rd time in my lifetime) and being second in the Championship can only help matters when trying to attract the 'right' players. . I was also impressed with the way we went about attracting Tammy Abraham to Ashton Gate and involving his family in the whole process. I thought that was serous credence to us. There are some huge teams in this division and a few of them are underperforming. So lets hope that if we are in competition with some of them for signings, we'll win in a head to head for their signature.
You answered my question perfectly because you highlighted the fact that our current higher profile could put us in front of some other teams in the transfer stakes. I have always wondered in previous years how on earth we could attract the right players to an organisation that didn't seem to be capable of getting things right. Over the last year the club philosophy has become more like what I thought we needed and perhaps the time is perfect for a challenge to go somewhere else and try our fortunes. When you look at Bristol by population, we have problems living up to the standards set by noticeably smaller cities and their more successful footballing fortunes
Reckon we could see the return of Abraham, especially if we get promoted for next season Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
