Hopefully Salah and Couts (if he stays) will be back and ready for the month.....any doubts and I'd rest both for the Everton game. We need to get something out of the City game and win the two away games. Today's win has teed us up nicely for the 2nd half of the season and a top 4 finish.
Personally I'd prioritise the Everton game. Its not a 6 pointer against City obviously and we have Swansea & Huddersfield after. I want a good trophy!!!!
Vital win in a game that I was certain we would drop points in, and to (just about) manage it with some key players rested makes it even better. As long as we dont get any FA cup replays we will now have a month where we only play once a week after friday
Nah, first team to beat city in the league and put our marker down to rest of top 4. Be a nice confidence booster.
I think we are probably the only team that has the system and the players to hurt City. We should go for the win. Of course it won't make a difference to City winning the title but it will definitely help us win top 4.
I really hope you are right with this but in truth think Spurs and Chelsea are the only teams likely to beat them, you are far too weak in midfield and open in defence.
Agree....unfortunately. Chelsea and Spurs are more solid than us defensively, although Spurs are missing their best defender atm. Might be different if de Bruyne and Silva are still unavailable though and we will score goals against them. We'll just concede too.
I don't agree about Spurs and Chelsea. City swatted Chelsea like an irritating fly. Spurs might on a good day but City will be too strong normally for them. The thing about our team is that if the attack clicks we can score 3 or 4 goals. And city has the game that allows us to do that. Yes, we might concede but even our defence could hold on to a 4-0 lead. Yes, we could lose but we could also win should we score first. Remember that city beat the red mancs through two errors by Lukaku and they will be without their main playmaker DeBruyn.
Conceded 4 goals at home this season as well... our midfield and defence might be iffy but at Anfield we’re strong and VVD should be fit enough to play
no doubt that we all want this version....and before Mane got sent off, we did look like we could score against them....but if we turn up and play as openly as we normally do, they'll slice through us like a hot knife through butter. Sure our front players are good but even if VvD is fit, they're better in the other CB role, better keeper, Better full backs, better midfielders....Their midfield is where they win games....our only hope is if their playmakers are absent. Im not being overly critical or negative, just realistic.....we remain a work in progress and are slowly improving. City have thrown billions at it. All that said, like you said, get at them early at Anfield and get a couple of early goals and who knows......anything can happen in football but if I think like a neutral, I'd say that they'll love the space that we leave for them in front of our defence and that will be our downfall. Hope I'm wrong
you are not wrong. the fact nobody mentions is while we were ripping their lb slot up in that city game we were 1-0 down when we lost mane to that red card. city are far better cos tactically we are **** at looking at danger men and keeping goal side in midfield. nothing else just that. our lads to a man.. no 6. full backs.. all pile on ignoring that one shuffle two steps into the right position cos we NEVER lose the ball do we? just watch us transition. you will see Silva or de Bruyne or both between our cms and cbs and you will be thinking wow just two steps and we stop that goal Can. Henderson is worse!
I agree and disagree, I think Chelsea and Spurs will approach the games with a view to keeping it tight and building into the game and that this will be their downfall. We will just attack them and if we grab a couple of goals we may get a win. I don't really think we'll win tactically but by simply showing them no respect. The downside is they may also give us a spanking if we don't get it right. This is a romantic view of the bloody minded all out attack Liverpool and the reality is that if we don't take our chances we'll get turned over as we don't have the quality in some areas that Chelsea and Spurs have.
