Sometimes the fearlessness of youth is just what's required, the tried and tested have failed too often...

From what's been said it sounds as though your tongue is in your cheek. Did you really mean "Maybe the ref belatedly realised he'd cocked up on the penalty award and wanted to even things up"? Out of the goodness of his heart and so that he could sleep well tonight.

I doubt there’s even a stat for it in this mad day of stats on everything but has there ever been a game with a greater combined distance of throw-ins. It was like a different ****ing sport.

And both our Robinson and their Paterson who were doing all the arm work, wore number 18 on their shirts.

After 10 minutes it was clear that Smyth was a nippy little lad who was willing to run his arse off for the team and the goal he scored was just deserved.
He’s no way the finished article yet and there are some things in his game that will hopefully improve in time....but maybe, just maybe, he could be the spark to revive our season.
I’m still not convinced about our manager but tonight I’m a happy man....hopefully the feeling will continue.

    Well, what an afternoon!
After asking, 'who?' when I saw Smyth's name on the team sheet I was flabbergasted to see this little fella up against Sol Bamba. Truly this was David and Goliath re-enacted!
I thought they were all over us for the first 15 to 20 but we gradually got into a rhythm and began to play some football.
Smyth was like an irritating wasp that Bamba (literally) tried to swat away and one could sense that his pace and tenacity was going to cause them at least something to think about if not even a problem.
As often, soft pen against The Rs. Enough said.
Smith doing what he does best with a looping header which, as well as leveling the score, shut up the travelling Welsh who were in fine voice as ever. In fact their own black humour chant, 'we're sheep shagging bastards, we know what we are', did make me chuckle as I like folks who don't take themselves too seriously.
Goal chances were plenty and we hit the woodwork at least once before an amazing chance that I will need to see in slow motion to see how we failed to score.
Enough has been said about Smyth's goal but the Wasp got through with composure and aplomb to sting Cardiff right in the soft underbelly.
The long delay before Junior's goal was given off side was tense. I had a sense that the ref wanted to give the goal rather than try and get it right but it seems I was wrong and we all breathed a massive sigh of relief.
I did not expect much from this game but we were served the grit and determination that Olly has built into the team and not a little skill too. So thrilled to be wrong!
Just a brief mention for Oteh in the last few minutes. Looked lively and pacey and strong. Would like to see more of him in the future too.
Thanks Rs for a great afternoon. Was with a friend who does not get to many games so really pleased he was able to see a famous victory.

    A fair review.

We also had a couple of great fast counter attacks where we were 5 on 3 and then 3 on 1 and we messed them up.

A very surprising and refreshing formation, plus a very enjoyable game.

It was surreal with the number of long throws. Almost a different game.

For any uninitiated supporters, it would seem that the number 18 shirt is the specialist of long throws.

Plus, throw-in’s are more useful and dangerous than corners.

Quite a weopon when used effectively.

Having seen just the highlights it shows what difference playing someone with pace who is delighted to run at the opposition with the ball makes. Let’s hope the penny drops.

And I used to criticise Delap for his long throw style of 'foot'ball!

I think you have just coined the lad's new nickname. The Wasp, I like it!
