Just about precisely my thoughts. I feel much better about the club with Holloway as manager than I have for a long time, because he obviously only has one agenda - the club. But I have never rated him as a manager (though I admired his brave and bold approach with Blackpool in the PL, and respect his conversion from lump it to football). Now he has got a bunch of competent footballers (minus strikers) who clearly give their all every game. But we rarely win, we are not seeing players improve (Robinson aside, though the only thing to compare him with is an injured Robinson), we aren’t seeing young players breaking through, and we are not seeing progress, which doesn’t have to be spectacular and has to take into account the £ situation. A comfortable 11th or 12th place would be fine this year, but we are miles off. Hopefully we will struggle through this season, but wouldn’t expect much different next if Ollie is still around.
Interesting that Hoos and Sir Les were not keen on Ollie. Suggests the hierarchy are subject to knee-jerks...
