Ned, Smithies, and Baptiste were all good imo. Dont think anyone was that bad either. As an attacking unit we didnt create enough or take the few chances we got, Freeman not being at his best, and missing the Rat was probably a big part of why we created so little.

Oh and being based up North doesn't make much difference to my opinion. Will wait ever so patiently for you to inform me of the games i missed when we have played 4-4-2 this season.

Smithies really hurt himeself during their goal

incidentally I was concerned before kick off...Smithies did not warm up. Thiought he may have been touch and go before KO.
He WILL NOT play next Saturday versus MK Dons

I would not be surprised if he didn't make Monday either Bobmid.
It looked a really heavy hit on the post, I am not sure you realise what a perfect cross it was. Smithies looked out for a few seconds
I think Smithies stayed on to allow Ollie to make changes on the field.

I do hope I am wrong about Monday...but sure he will be given a well deserved day off next Saturday

So if smithies is injured that leaves Lumley as his replacement which will be a big ask for the lad as I see that Ingram has not been playing the last few weeks either for Northampton not sure if also injured or dropped as they have been conceding a shed load of goals lately....

He really has been our best player this season Beth and realisticly we could have conceded double what we have without him

If you’re correct and Smithies is out then we truly are ****ed.

I hope I am wrong re Smithies.
Ingram has been injured for Northampton(shoulder) and returned to QPR for treatment, but I believe is back at Northampton now, just.
If Smithies is injured I think it is Lumley...who always had glowing reviews, and is a much bigger lad than Smithies.
I am not saying he is better at the moment....but I believe they (the management) believe he really does have potential

Why´s that then? Is Birch playing in goal or have we not got any back-ups who are not blind?

Because he is probably one of, if not the best keeper in the league and I feel whoever replaces him, will not be as good, will let in more goals and that this will lead to us losing even more matches than we do already.

In the long run, absolutely, but one game? I could stand there and stop a few shots unwittenly with my loaf or Jacksons.

Oh ok, I get you now. Sorry I was meaning if Smithies was out for longer than just one game.
Understand you now and point taken. Yeah if he was out for just one game then true, it wouldn’t make that much difference (all speculation of course)

    Sorry for the confusion

Of course being up north doesn’t make any difference to your opinion, but it does effect which matches you are likely to see. However, the match which sticks most vividly in my memory was on Sky, our home league match against Brentford (and yes, we did stay until the end). The regularity with which Brentford waltzed through the middle of the pitch was galling.

To play 4-4-2 we break up the midfield triangle of Scowen behind Luongo and Freeman which has been at the heart of our play this season, both in attacking and defending. By stringing them out across the pitch the effectiveness of all three of them is reduced. That is what I mean by our midfield being compromised.

Mass seemed to be the job of two players at times but was always 2m away ... this effected our composure 2nd half

Really poor decision making final third

Approach play still fine with the rat in the team he does a great job for our team big miss ... Robinson also missed

We will see how we play tomorrow

But we didn't play 4-4--2 that day either. We strang 3 across the front line with Washington sylla and Mackie. As for the heart of our play this season with the named 3 in a triangle please remind me how that's gone so far! How would ian know if stringing them out across midfield like teams have done for decades would be effective when he's never done it. The bloke is a clueless pantomime character in charge of our club

Don't know what you have been watching roller and I will stand corrected if wrong but please tell me when we have played 4-4-2. What he's doing now isn't very effective just look at results and the table. What did he do the other week, he played Smith and Sylla who both thrive on crosses but then doesn't play anyone to put a cross in. It won't be long until the players do get unsettled.

All of Ian's problems are accommdating certain players resulting in playing others out of position to suit his constant tinkering of an experiment. My 12 year old son sees this straight away. He has to go and go now!!!

I disagree. In my opinion we played 4-4-2 with Mackie pushing forwards when we were in possession.

Anyway, I'm off out now for the rest of the year so I'll bid you and everyone else a happy new year.

No we didn't mate. Washington was moved to all 3 different position along the front line in that game. Himself and Sylla started out wide.
