I'm not Beth mate, but as I said we need to use the width of the pitch to provide crosses and angled balls for Smith and Sylla, not lumped balls forward from central defense. Pawel, Freeman, Bidwell and Robinson can all do this well.
Sorry Oslo. They can but they do it from too deep still. Would love to see pawel with a full back behind him freeing him up to attack. That's when we have seen him at his best. He wont hang around long being a full back
Maybe you are right. I'm not a big fan of 4 4 2 and in some ways 3 5 2 works well for us. But we do need to start creating chances again but keep tight at the back.
But that is just one player Bob. I’m surprised you want to compromise the whole of our midfield and play Freeman out of position when Wszolek looks to be growing into the role. If I recall correctly you are based up north somewhere, have you seen us when we’ve played 4-4-2 this season? I think it is easy to underestimate quite how badly we’ve been hit by injuries this season. To continue with my Onuoha stats, with him (and therefore playing a steady 3-5-2) we’ve won 5, drawn 4 and lost 4 conceding 15 goals. Without him we’ve won 2, drawn 5 and lost 7 conceding 24 goals. Am I happy, of course not, but neither am I going to overreact after a defeat away to a team who had drawn with Wolves in the previous home match and defeated Middlesbrough and Sheffield United in their previous two, when we had shown signs of improvement with a short unbeaten run immediately before that.
All of this is academic if we have to sell players in the Jan window to offset FFP/'SLF' I can see Smithies Ned Freeman and Luongo getting a lot of interest, Robinson also After the window's closed we will see what we have but I can't see the current management keeping us up
Don't really understand what youre getting at...compromise our midfield??? Freeman has played most of his career on the wing. Can you tell me when we have played 4'4-2 this season? He is compromising our midfield by accommdating him scowen and Luongo in a 3. Nothing is steady about this formation and set up. Look at the league table, look at the results look at the stats look at how many away wins we have had in a year yes a year. That' anything but steady
Oh and I've managed to catch 8 games this season not many granted and mainly away for my sins. Not once has he played 4-4-2 in any of them.
Will leave this now for others to discuss. Just hope ian goes asap otherwise it' league 1 next season
The players need a lift big time after last night hope the board does nothing rash Summertime is the time to look at the management
We are far from being safe and a couple more bad results and we will be in the mix. I like Ollie and I do think we are close to looking like a decent team but he’s had so long to get it right. He’s had a good opportunity to turn things round but has failed. His stats are terrible and there are other people who could move us forward. Some might think that’s a risk but compared to our current situation I don’t think it’s a risk at all.
Still very disappointed with the display last night so can respect the views on here currently. It was very poor
Watching our backs now.....3 out of the bottom 4 winning....only 1 below us losing...... I’m beginning to get a bad feeling
Of the bottom 10 everyone around us gained points. We need points - and I mean wins - very quickly now. Losses against Cardiff and Burton are unthinkable. Stop clutching those straws and start clenching those buttocks!! Just as at the end of last season, I don’t think Holloway recognises we are in big trouble! That’s very worrying once more.
I have been in the "we are too good to go down" brigade all season, but now I am starting to get worried. The defensive side of our game has improved, but we just don't look like scoring. This is what happens to relegated teams. Play well, don't score and get beat (Millwall summary). We are now only 5 points from the drop-zone and even more worrying is the daunting fact of which teams are below us: Burton and Birmingham are probably on their way down (which leaves one more spot). Bolton, Sunderland, Barnsley and Hull are probably not, i.e. they are probably going to improve. The teams directly above us are not going down. I am now, after writing this, even more worried than I was beforehand. If we don't get at least 3 points from Cardiff/Burton (with the emphasis on the Brewers) we must get rid of Ollie, Birch and all the training staff before it is too late.
